Staying at the Contemporary (Need advice - first time!!)

It is lots of fun to be at the MK for the fireworks, but you'll have LOTS of company. :joyfull: Our favorite spot is the top of the railroad station, but you have to get there quite early to snag a spot there. I agree that the 4th floor of the CR is a terrific spot too.

    Dining With Allergies

Disney does an exemplary job with their approach and procedures for food allergies. They are kind and accommodating and go out of their way to ensure your experience is safe and pleasurable. Not that I'm particularly surprised about that! :)

    DVC help!

It might be a help if you consider what theme parks and/or water parks you will be frequenting. Bay Lake Tower, Wilderness Lodge and the Grand Floridian are all very convenient to the MK. The Beach Club Villas and the Boardwalk are close to Epcot (you can walk there) and to the DHS. Also, the...

    Christmas 2014

We have visited the week immediately after the Food & Wine Festival ends and the holiday decorations are in place -- or work has begun --- in many places. One evening we were strolling OKW enjoying the Halloween decorations and the next morning some Christmas decorations were already in place...

    August

We just returned and it was pretty "sultry". The line for the new "Under the Sea" attraction was particularly hot, as some of it is outside (depends on how crowded it is) and there is no a/c once you get inside until you are actually about to board the ride. The ride is okay, but it was not...

Epipen and inhalers on the plane

We just returned from WDW and I bought both EpiPens and inhalers in my carry-on. I did place both in zip bags and I had no issues. A few years back one of the security gals was unfamiliar with inhalers and questioned me, but one of her co-workers teased her and waved me on.

Has anyone ever had their waitlist granted?

We got our wait-list granted some years back on a studio at OKW (our home resort) during the first week of December(a very busy time at the DVC resorts). We got a great air fare at the last minute and decided to do a long weekend with little notice. That is the only time we have used the...

How often do you go to Disney with just your family

We go as a family at least once a year, usually in the summer due to school, work and sports schedules. In fact, we just returned from WDW on Friday. Sometimes we are able to sneak in another trip in November or May. Because we are DVC members, we try to squeeze the most out of our points. We...

    Disney late October early November

If you try to book your trip for just after the Food and Wine Festival ends (unless that is a must for you!:)), you have a good chance of seeing the switch-over from Halloween decorations to Christmas decorations happen overnight. It does not happen everywhere - it takes a tad longer for all...

    Rainforest Cafe: which one?

I believe the menus are the same. Both have stores to pass the time until your table is ready. IMHO, the DTD location is far busier just from more walk-by traffic. We've been to both. The DTD location is probably a bit livelier; they often have the live bird show taking place out front and...

    breakfast buffet?

Yes! Dinner is great too. Lots of choices - usually you will see salad, hand- carved beef, fried chicken, potatoes, soup, chili, pasta, ribs, pizza, soft- serve ice cream with toppings, cookies, cobblers. Service is excellent. I highly recommend. Down- home cooking; nothing fancy. Spend...

    Groceries

We are Garden Grocer fans as well. We've used the service about a dozen times and have had no issues. It is somewhat pricey, but the selection is good, especially with regard to items WDW does not carry - Gatorade (Pepsi product) for example. You are paying for the convenience the service...

    Christmas in November

It is a great time to visit. We have visited at this time on several occasions.

    Planet Hollywood

We ate there once. Food was just okay. But the decibel level is outrageously high. Yikes!

Just booked a 1 bed room at Old Key West

We're pretty biased in favor of OKW - LOL. The rooms closest to the main area (Hospitality) are wonderfully convenient, but there is an internal bus system. Walking is also a pleasant option, but the resort is quite large, so it would depend on where you're located. Olivia's is wonderful...

    breakfast buffet?

We like Trail's End. A nice casual atmosphere.

How many of you go back this far and remember.....

I remember it, but for some reason we never ate there - too many "countries" to try I guess - LOL. I thought it had a great location.

    Contemporary Conundrum

We love the CR, no doubt because it was our resort on our first WDW trip. We always stayed in a wing, because they were a bit less expensive, but booked a lake view, which was very nice. Sometimes we were in a corridor a long walk from the exits and had a hike to the main building, but we were...

When did you know you loved Disney?

I am close to tears whenever we need to leave for home. And I am closing in on my 45th trip. I think it is because I am leaving the child in me behind.....yet again. I have to return to the real world of adult responsibilities. Of course it is necessary and I love my "real life". It just...

Old Key West 3 BR @ 7 months

We are owners at DVC and have stayed in the GV twice. Both times were mid to late May. Of course it is a bit easier for us to book because of the longer window, but I do believe it depends on the time of year. Holidays like Memorial and Labor Day would be somewhat easier than July 4 or the...
