Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Text and email alerts were available last year. So, hopefully they'll be available again.

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

I am officially excited now. I had lost my job in July and it was looking pretty bleak for me on W&D. Well, I got a 2nd job offer today :sohappy: Training has been minimal. So, I'm going to take it easy on the run and try to enjoy the after party :) Now to see about working in Marathon...

    Wine and Dine- who's in?

Finisher's Medal For those in it for the "bling" here is the photo of the medal posted on RunDisney's FB page. Bling It's the same design as last year with SSE. However, the picture looks like the color has been changed. I like this change as it gives the inaugural medal some uniqueness.

Am I the only one running the Marathon Chip/Dale relay?

I'd like to run it (and Donald on Saturday) as a precursor to Goofy for 2013. But, finding a partner has been a little difficult. Plus, the cost is always another factor.

    Wine and Dine- who's in?

Surfing the runDisney site this morning and noticed the program for the 2011 Wine & Dine is now posted Program

Best 1/2 Marathon for a newbie

I assume you mean the 1/2 during Marathon weekend in January. I would say it depends on what you want to get out of the run, which parks you might want to experience running through, and any character interaction you might like. Wine&Dine will go through AK, DHS and the backside (maybe) of...

    What did you do?

6.2 miles yesterday for Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. I took it conservative due to heat and humidity :fork: and finished in a SLOW 82 minutes. But, I feel good today and will begin preparations for Wine & Dine starting this week.

    What did you do?

I'm registered for PeachTree Road Race on July 4th and not looking forward to Cardiac Hill. So, I decided to test out the hills of Montgomery this morning for the annual Jubilee CityFest 8k. Weather was cloudy with temps hovering around 68-70*. Unfortunately, humidity was high around 89%...

    What did you do?

Good to see all the activity of everyone. Plus, the addition of new members joining the discussions :) Running has been pretty lackluster for me lately. :( But, I'm back in the game now and rebuilding my base. I ran a 5k yesterday in just over 33:00. It's a good start for my 10k training for...

    New runDisney Race Clues?

I like the fact they are adding another race. But, the clues aren't making this enjoyable :brick: :)

    Wine and Dine- who's in?

I was ready to pull the trigger and register on Monday....then the fees were released :dazzle: What an insane pricing tier! I've fired off a letter to RunDisney to express my displeasure in the structure. I know it won't change anything. Hope they're able to "sell out" this year.

    Race goals

Take a little time to get back into the groove. If you rush, you risk the possibility of relapse or injury. Good luck to both of ya

    Race goals

I don't have much to compare Callaway to since I've only run at Disney. It's a very scenic run from a nature point of view. There isn't a whole lot of structure to divert the eyes. So, it can be tough mentally. The other mental battle is the number of runners. There were only a few hundred...

    Race goals

Missed both goals :( 2:40.28 Felt good (borderline great) for the first 10 miles and on pace to get the stretch goal. Unfortunately, I ran into some leg issues during mile 11 and pretty much walked the remainder of the run.

    Race goals

I know several of us have races upcoming. I figured it would be nice to have a place to state your goals and then see how everything went. I have the Callaway Gardens Half this Sunday. My realistic goal is 2:36 with a stretch goal of 2:30

Marathon weekend- report your times here

2:42:47 for me. I took it easy this last month due to health issues. So, I stopped for pictures when I saw something of interest. I ran the Wine&Dine in 2:42:33. So, I can tell there was improvement.

    First Time Marathon Running...

I would recommend any of the iPhone "Couch to 5k" apps. They are a great way to start building your base

    What did you do?

Nice & easy 4 miler this evening. Very few runs last several weeks due to flu and sinus issues. :( Marathon weekend in a few short days :sohappy:
