Is Victoria and Alberts ever coming back?

My wife and I enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime dinner there several years ago. It was around Christmas and a harpist was playing Christmas carols in the main dining room. Quite nice. I didn't think I would ever be full when they started bringing out the early small servings but by the time...

News Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser coming to Walt Disney World 2021

Gas prices and runaway inflation would be my guess. After reading these stories of people who did the cruise, I really want to do it someday. My work and some family matters currently keep me from doing this. My wife seems to have absolutely no interest in going, so I'll have to recruit...

    Many Rides Temporarily Closed Today

What's with the many rides temporarily closed today? I sometimes browse the Disney app from home to see how long wait times are for some of the more popular attractions. I usually see one or two in the list that say Temporarily Closed but when I looked just now there were 13 closed. Did...

April 25th and 26th At WDW

When I was there in October I stayed offsite. My group was in the front of the line when DHS opened and we went straight to RotR. We still had to wait in a 150 minute line due to the early park opening for Disney resort guests. That was back when the mask mandate was still in effect and the...

Is Victoria and Alberts ever coming back?

I wonder if they'll be coming back with increased prices, keeping in line with Disney overall? We enjoyed our once-in-a-lifetime dinner there but $842 for two of us with no wine pairings was a bit high. The Christmas live harp music was quite nice.

    Rental cars 2022

How long is your stay? A month? You never said. I looked up the cost for a week rental of a standard size car from MCO on Priceline a few weeks ago. Total cost, including taxes and fees, was around $260.

Where is your Disney secret spot?

The lounge above the GM Test Track. It's not open to everybody, so I don't mind sharing the location. I have insider access and it is a great place to unwind for a few minutes or longer, whatever you prefer, on a hot summer day in a crowded park. Free refreshments and plenty of lounge chairs...

Flying into Tampa with very short layover in Charlotte, NC

You can get a full size rental car for less than $260 per week at MCO through Priceline.

    Resorts and mousekeeping

I figure most of those wash off in the shower. If not, I'm not scrubbing hard enough.

Figment bucket craze, if this doesn’t tell them something I don’t know what will

No drinks? Wow, they at least give us free drinks in the GM lounge. It's a nice place to hang out and cool down for a bit on a warm summer day, away from the crowds. A few other perks up there, too.

    Resorts and mousekeeping

Sure. When I dry myself off I am already clean, so it's not like I'm getting the towel dirty. I then hang it up and let it air dry and it smells fresh the next day.

Figment bucket craze, if this doesn’t tell them something I don’t know what will

Wow, if people are actually willing to pay that much for one I wouldn't mind flying down there from St. Louis and standing in line for however many hours it takes to get a few. I might even skip over to Test Track. I have insider access to the lounge upstairs - pretty nice.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

It's an open floor plan, no closed doors between us. I can look over the loft railing and wave to her but we try to maintain our distance. It's been 5 days since she tested positive and I do not have any of her symptoms so I think I'll be OK. Until she takes another test and it comes back...

News Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser coming to Walt Disney World 2021

I once ordered a pizza for delivery when we were staying in the Contemporary. When I told them the delivery address they said they could not go there. I asked them if they could at least meet me at the parking lot toll gate but they said it had to be an address. I was unfamiliar with the area...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Actually, I wouldn't even have to leave my home. My healthcare professional wife tested positive for COVID last Wednesday. Fortunately, she's had both Pfizer vaccines and a booster and her symptoms are fairly mild. However, we're wearing masks in the house and she's staying on one floor and...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Sure. Here's an article on it. In summary, Western Australia continues to have strict lockdowns and a very low COVID rate. Eastern Australia relaxed their lockdowns and the COVID rate skyrocketed. Continue wearing your mask. Omicron Wave Surges in Australia Highlights from the article: In...

    First time WDW

Hmm...tough choice. In May, it would be right before the kids get out of school for the summer and the crowds might be slightly less. In September, it would be right after the kids go back to school and maybe less crowded then, too. I'd probably go in September. Here's a money-saving tip...

    Resorts and mousekeeping

No housekeeping saves me $5 per day when they do not enter my room to collect the $5 I leave on the bathroom counter. I don't mind it at all.

    First time WDW

You can get a full size rental car for under $260 per week, including taxes and fees, through Priceline. As others have mentioned, be careful about the hotels that charge for daily parking, usually $20-$25 per day. The Comfort Inn that I stayed at last fall did not have a parking surcharge.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

If only a whole lot more WDW potential guests felt that way <sigh>. When I did a WDW solo visit in Sep. 2020 it was during the height of the pandemic and lots of people were apparently either extra cautious about being in a large group setting, didn't want to fly or were protesting having to...
