    Tom Sawyer Island appreciation thread

It gets flack? Maybe from people who have no imagination. Just means it's less crowded for the people who appreciate it.

Typhoon Lagoon vs. Blizzard Beach (poll)

I love them both but Typhoon Lagoon is the best.

    "One And Done" Attractions

    Star Tours. I despised it.

    Quick service spots to avoid

I guess I'm the only one that had a decent meal at ABC Commissary. Had a salad with quinoa and salmon several years ago that was good.

    Extreme Heat or Extreme Cold?

Thank you! I get so tired of people saying "you can always add layers to stay warm, but there's only so much you can take off". Not just in this discussion, but in general. Those people clearly haven't had the joy of waiting for a bus in -30 Celsius weather, with the arctic wind coming at you...

    Restaurants for the non-Disneyphile/Foodie

Another vote for Sanaa. I love Ohana but it's more about the atmosphere than the food. Except for the dessert. The dessert is worth the price of admission on its own. Also, the bread is amazing. And the salad dressing. Okay, I like the food at Ohana a lot. Avoid the Moroccan table...

Memories of your first visit to WDW.

The balloons with the ballon ears! I know exactly what you mean! On my first trip (I was about 2, let's say 1975 or 76) apparently my grandmother bought me one and handed it to me and commanded "DON'T LET GO!", at which point I allegedly let go and burst into tears as the balloon flew up and...

I've timed Castaway Creek and it's closer to twenty minutes.

    Pets and Rooms

I think it should be okay if you're taking him our for frequent breaks. The rooms are pretty decent size if I recall correctly. Also, I know you said you don't like the idea of boarding but the kennel is right across from Port Orleans so if you wanted you could leave him there during the day...

Whose second favorite park is Typhoon Lagoon?

It's a tie? MK, then AK-TL. Then again, I have stated on multiple occasions that Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite place ever. So maybe it's actually my favorite park. I love it so much it I can't even think straight.

[Water] Ride of the Day: Summit Plummet

I've never done it. Way too scary. I did the one right next to it and even that one had me shaky.

    Spending Less with Disney

We still go, and we still like it. But we have stopped doing things like paying extra for Mickey's not-so-scary Halloween Party, and the Christmas party. I'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars extra on top of the tickets that I've already paid hundreds of dollars for. We spend less on...

    Brazil coming to EPCOT?

No, there are quite a few countries that are doing quite well. Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda...And certainly a ton of countries that are safer than Mali is at the moment.

    Tipping The Disney Characters

Yes, exactly. Pretty much all of them would have to break character. What the hell would Chip n Dale do with a five-dollar bill? Chew it up and use it in their nest? The princesses? These characters are supposed to live in a world where money is not really an issue.

How much $ is to much $ to charge for stuff.

We buy some stuff on every trip, but we tend to buy less now than we did a few years ago. For two reasons: the prices have gone up and we already have SO MUCH STUFF. The way of the Western world. Where I have decided to vote with my money is with respect to add-ons. We were there at...
