What/Who at Disney do you think should get more credit or recognition?

Yep, I'm talking about the people who give the cast their costumes every day. CMs pick out their own costumes, so they're responsible for making sure it's the right one & the right size, but we have to make sure every thing is clean & show ready.

What/Who at Disney do you think should get more credit or recognition?

This may be a little biased, but the costuming cast members. (I'm a costuming cm.) We work to make sure that not only the characters have their costumes, but also the front line CMs that the guests interact with in the parks & resorts. Because we're not seen by guests, people don't realize that...

    How do you do it?

I usually don't wear alot of make up when I'm at disney. I have pretty thick wavy hair that I keep about chin length. I usually straighten it in the morning & spritz some light anti-frizz hair spray on it. I also take a few hair ties to pull it back if it starts to get annoying. I also take a...

    Is It Really Worth It?

Yes & no. I did Career Start (college program without beign in college) from August 2008-May 2009 in costuming & have stayed seasonal since. I'll be returning this August for the College Program to work in merchandise. I'm not sure how it will be in merchandise, but costuming was amazing. I...

What's The Longest Stretch You Have Gone From Visiting Disney World?

6 years. 1994-2000. I was 4 in 1994 when it was a "girls" trip with my mom, sister, grandma, & aunt. We went again when I was 10 over my sister's 13th birthday & mother's day. After that, it was 4 years till the next trip. Then 2 years till my brithday trip & less than a year between trips...

    EpcotServo's Interim Update #8- Iron May 2

Animation was set up like that back in January when I was there. At least they didn't force us to sit through the movie thing. There was a line to go directly into Animation for the characters & animation class.

Disney Character Job - Disney Image

Yes, you have to fit the Disney Look rules. Even if you are a fur character & completely covered, there's a chance you could get trained in a parade for which you wouldn't be a character. It doesn't happen too often, but I have heard of character performers acting as character attendants. Also...

    Cost of Shows

When I worked in costuming at Fantasmic last year, I heard it costs around $30,000/per show. I think that includes the pyro, all the effects, and paying the cast & crew.

    Ask a Disney employee

I'm also a cast member, so I can try to answer your questions too. elsie- Most of the face characters are under a size 6, some go up to 8 or 10, but most are size 6 or smaller. I've never gone to an audition, but from what I've heard, you don't have to bring a resume/portfolio/headshot, etc...

    Disney Fun Fact - utilidors

Not related to the conversation about the levels of the utilidors, but rather the one about guest being routed through backstage areas. Many times guests are routed through a backstage area after Fantasmic. Upon leaving the show, if you head left instead of straight ahead towards where you...

Character auditions are up this month and next

I think CMs/CPs arent allowed to audition is because they offer auditions specifically for CMs & CPs. Most of the info regarding those is communicated to us through the Hub (CM website). There are a few public auditions that CMs can go to, but not many. I know CPs aren't allowed to audition...

    Fantasyland Expansion

If there is a Professional Internship open in that area & you meet the requirements, I don't see why you wouldn't meet the requirements. I'm not sure if Disney has any internships in construction, as they usually hire outside contractors for the bigger project (like Fantasyland expansion). I...

    Trouble at SM ?????

They were headed for TTA, not Space Mountain. I talked to one of my friends who was on TTA when it had to be evac'd. There was a larger guest who got out of the vehicle, but fell during the evac & wasn't able to get back up, so Reedy Creek had to be called to help her up. They got the ride...

Question about college internship program interview

I also applied for the program for this fall & I did the program fall 08-spring 09. It seems to vary with the interviewer as to what type of questions you get asked. For my first interview, the interviewer asked me several questions about my past work experience (tell me about a time you made...

Anyone else love sitcoms at WDW?

I recently found an episode of George Lopez at Disneyland on Youtube. I've never seen it air on television. It's kinda funny cuz they explain hidden Mickeys at the beginning & say they're having a contest to see who counts the most Mickeys. I love the Boy Meets World one. Its kind of a...

Magic Kingdom currently (11:30am) closed to some guests due to capacity (phase 2)

My guess would just be the proximity to Easter. I was there last spring doing the CP & the parks (mainly MK) ended up going to phase closings the week before & after Easter.

Driving from Northern Illinois to Florida

When we drive down from Milwaukee, we took 3 days to drive cuz there was only one driver. The first night we stopped in Nashville & in Valdosta the next. We might be driving down in May if I get into the College Program & we'll be spending the night at my cousin's house in Paducah & then...

Disney Career Start Programme : )

I did the Career Start Program. The only main difference between that & the regular college program is that the Career Start Program is for high school graduates & you don't have to be in college. Once you are actually there, there is no difference between the job I was doing for Career Start...
