    Expedition Everest effects status watch

HA! You might not have survived "A Mode". When the Yeti swiped at the train I instinctively ducked because I was sure he was gonna take my head off! :)

    Very Silly Question about Aulani

Aulani is awesome! Just an FYI... the resort is on a relatively remote part of the island - away from any of the big tourist areas. We're DVC members and we didn't want to pay cash for a different resort, so we just drove everywhere we wanted to go. This worked but it was a bit of driving. If I...

    Expedition Everest effects status watch

The Yeti is really what makes this attraction UNIQUE. Plus Disney went to such amazing lengths to theme this ride. Take the time to watch this video (which I'm sure was posted way earlier in the thread). At around the 31-minute mark they talk about the Yeti and you see the attention they paid to...

What little things that WDW used to do/have do you miss?

So true, but it's not really a little thing. Back in the day, we'd eat at Mexico, Italy, Canada, and either the Yachtsman's or Concourse Steakhouse on every trip (sometimes mixing things up here and there to try someplace new). We'd usually get ADRs a day or two before, but sometimes we'd just...

‘Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire’ Experience coming to Disney Springs

This looks pretty cool so I'm happy to see it... BUT: There was a time where an attraction like this would find itself inside a park and be included in your ticket price (like Sum of All Thrills). If this is free I'd do it (if the line wasn't too long). If it's $20 I might try it once if the...

I'm Just Sick Over The Great Movie Ride

If the new attraction is way better than GMR, we'll get over it fairly quickly. For example, not too many people wish Buzz Lightyear would close so Dreamflight could re-open. Still, the problem is GMR was a classic attraction and in many ways was the heart & soul of the park. So... I dunno...

Grand Avenue and Baseline Tap House

"If we can dream it, we can do it." It just might take a really, really long time. But hey, at least we can start to imagine a day when Disney's Hollywood Adventure (or whatever it will be called) is actually a fully functional park. Years ago I can remember grabbing a cheap macrobrew...

Grand Avenue and Baseline Tap House

Maybe overthinking it but the image looks like they have 20+ beers on tap. This is encouraging...

Grand Avenue and Baseline Tap House

Stone is still independent. At least I think so! It's hard to keep track, with all the frequent purchases. The concern is that the quality of the beer will decline. The larger brewers are often focused on saving money in order to be more competitive on a larger scale, so they (sometimes) turn...

Grand Avenue and Baseline Tap House

Looking at California beers, beers from Stone and Sierra Nevada would be welcome sights since they're not owned by one of the mega-breweries. Lagunitas is now owned by Heineken... Golden Road by AB/InBev. Smaller breweries like Green Flash, Knee Deep, and Russian River would be awesome but I'm...

    Old Key West Room Renovations

Welcome to DVC! We've been members since 2000, and my in-laws were members basically from the beginning. If you look at the image in my profile that's a green construction wall up around the water at OKW. That was our first trip in the early 90s when the resort was just being built! Only the...

    need a disney Fix...but....

Agreed! I'm fine with not being among the first to experience an attraction. I'm perfectly content to let the hoopla die down first! :)

    Sad Haunted Mansion

But WDW has always been a "major vacation" destination, and years ago the attractions were almost always in perfect condition (and the parks were spotless). I think this has more to do with current management philosophy and budget cuts.

    Sad Haunted Mansion

My family has reduced our trips from about twice a year to once every other year. It's not just park maintenance, it's part of a larger issue that includes MyMagic+, how the parks now handle crowds, how much time I'm spending in line vs enjoying attractions/having fun, reinvestment in new...

    Sad Haunted Mansion

THANK YOU for this post. I've been told I'm too hard on Disney ("Just relax and enjoy your trip!")... and ok, I can see the logic in that. You don't want to allow some minor maintenance issue to upset a day of your vacation. But still, one of the things we love about Disney is that the standards...

    need a disney Fix...but....

I'm going in May figuring hopefully some of the insanity of Pandora will have died down, and the insanity of Toy Story will not have started yet, and the total and complete mind-blowing insanity of Star Wars Land will still be in the future. :)

Expect more premium events with recent organizational changes

I hear ya. Look, I'm not opposed to these things. I've done the holiday parties and backstage tours. We've watched Illuminations from the private boat. Again, my issue is how these things hurt regular guests. To use your earlier "Fast Lane" example. If there's a 3-lane highway and they build a...

Expect more premium events with recent organizational changes

If you're ok with the MK being closed for 4 nights during your vacation, by all means go to WDW in December. We used to go every year to enjoy all the holiday decorations, events, etc., but we enjoy the MK too much. So we're done.
