    AVATAR land - the specifics

As I've been saying, beyond the resolution, the projectors have to be BRIGHT and a very high frame rate will also help. 120FPS? Can current tech do that? Been waiting for someone with inside knowledge to weigh in on the projection technology for a loooong time, though . . .

    AVATAR land - the specifics

    Poorly scaled flamingos, to boot.

    AVATAR land - the specifics

Agreed they shouldn't have done this at all without solving the water speed/scale problem and forcing the perspective of the water. Maybe they are hoping that people won't look up much.

    AVATAR land - the specifics

I have been searching for a tweet I saw last week from an imagineer where he said something to the effect of "this is the most advanced projection system in the world". Aargh. Wish I could dig it up.

    AVATAR land - the specifics

Hmm. I wonder if the Banshee is augmented reality . . . looks like you are "inhabiting an avatar" much like the film. Looks awesome!

AVATAR land coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

This is sorta like Disney's 'we're going to build Avatar-land' announcement. No details, timeline, anything. So . . . . six or seven years from now, this should be a pretty cool game! :D

    Cirque's La Nouba Closing?

This is one of those rumors that just makes sense, given the age of the show, and the general revamping of all things in that area. When I heard about the Toruk show, I figured that was going to be the replacement--but given the reviews I have read, now I hope not, unless it's significantly...

Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I think I saw, somewhere, a large blue picket fence? Wracking my brain trying to remember where but I had it in my mind it would be giant fencing . . . Edit: Yes, I think that's what I thought from this video . . Edit Edit: Looks like the blue fence is more on the backside of TSM, and there's...

    AVATAR land construction progress

It's a remnant of the old times when the humans were running roughshod over the land and its people. Now, it's been reclaimed by adding native accouterments. They're diminishing its power and fearfulness by making fun of it, making it playful. Whether you like that idea or not, it makes...

News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

My guess: Space catapult out of the top of Spaceship Earth, landing in Star Wars Land. Take that, Hogwart's Express.

For a land most originally said they weren't interested in ................

I wasn't interested in CarsLand until I set foot in it. I'd go back in a heartbeat. But let's be honest. Everything . . . isn't for everyone. I anticipate years and years of people still saying it's not for them, being "proud" that they haven't watched the film, etc. And even a chorus of "meh"...

    AVATAR land - the specifics

That will never go away. I have heard people in Universal ask where the big ball is. My favorite was overhearing someone say something to the effect of "My kids wanted to go see that big ball, so we went there, and there's like a whole big area around it with rides and countries! Had no idea."...

    AVATAR land - the specifics

I'm going with this. I noticed the weirdness but if that's a composite it's an incredible one. The tracking would be spot on, etc. and for a five second tweet seemed excessive. Thanks for thinking of the most probable cause. Occam's razor.

    AVATAR land construction progress

So I have noticed that Avatar twitter accounts have been more active, and of course Disney has started one. I'll bet that it will be replayed a bunch on ABC and/or ABC affiliates and other Disney media starting pretty quick. Disney has such a huge media reach and so many different places to...

New nighttime show 'Rivers of Light' confirmed to be coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

Agreed on all points 100 percent. The big miss for me is no moment where you go "whoa, how did they do THAT!?!" I am certain that the tech behind the floats and their positioning is cutting edge, but it's there to make the show go, not to really give you a wow moment. A tech tool, means to an...

New nighttime show 'Rivers of Light' confirmed to be coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

So my thought is, it seems like a good base. Let's remember it is an ALL-NEW thing, not a replacement or a repurposing, and so that is a win. We rightfully complain about those things all the time. As time goes on, they can plus, add, reconfigure, enhance, all that. It is disappointing for...

    AVATAR land construction progress

Well we shall see how it all fits in to the overall story of ACE. Again, just me, but no matter what the story I wish it was someone anonymous. That said, of course, this is such a tiny matter--but it's a message board, so that's what we do here, LOL.
