I don't know how these things work, but IF they win in Federal court, couldn't the judge then order the state to pay punitive damages and overturn the laws that stripped RCID and replaced it with CFTOD? I mean, that's the best case scenario. Not sure what other options a judge might award them...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Seems quite ironic (if not moronic) them trying to deny any responsibility to enforce state laws while also citing laws that would enforce state laws. It's quite laughable and I hope a judge will rule accordingly. Seems he's trying to parse the law and re-define his duty?

I’m quite familiar with how it works, look at my previous comments. I’m vehemently against and angered at the governor’s politically driven takeover of Disney’s board.

We're splitting hairs, but, I mostly agree with you, they are not the same, nor was that the implication. It was "private" in the sense that they were not real citizens of a district, they were employees of the company that owns and pays the bulk of taxes for the district. This part bothers...

I'm in agreement with you, but my comment was directed more toward @Cliff's who brought into question issues with how RCID was previously managed, based in part by some complaints about the district. At least that's my understanding of his remarks. Again, that's not to say that I think it was a...

Not surprising really. Every form of government and it's members has issues. None are perfect nor are they made up of perfect people. I'm not saying this as an excuse to CFTOD, this board member nor addressing what they've said or done, just pointing out partly in response to your previous post...

Nah. The EPCOT project was a pipe-dream, pie-in-the sky, fantasy land. Nobody really had a clue what that was except Walt himself. Even his own people thought it was way too lofty and unachievable. Florida leaders saw the success of Disneyland and wanted an East coast version to bring tourism...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Perhaps flawed by today's view, and your opinion, but I don't really think so for that time period in Central Florida. At that time it was a pretty barren area where people passed thru on their way to the beach. The population of Orlando was around 250,00 then vs 2.1 million today today. In...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I'm not 100% on this, but I've read they do pay some of these kind of fees to the district, but I'm not sure of the extent or if that includes Osceola (and Orange) county. Also, they submit their intended changes to the South Florida Water Management District. I don't know the extent of the...

WOW! Some good fuel being added to the fire in support of Disney's first amendment retaliation claims. I sincerely only hope this helps their case. I also have to wonder what's prompting these? Are they unsolicited or did Disney reach out to some groups and "encourage" them? I gotta think it's...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

The governor and legislature's actions toward Disney were retaliation. This is undeniable targeted governmental abuse of power. Anyone who denies that is choosing to ignore the public comments that have been made and cited in the case. They went even further with their legislation to void...

Take a look at the latest Amicus brief and the comments made there. It was covered very well with several cases cited that were very similar retaliatory actions taken against free speech that the court ruled violated the first amendment. Even if Disney was operating it in a corrupt manner, that...

Some great arguments made in this filing in support of Disney's First Amendment violation claims. It's a good read, even for those who aren't in the legal profession, and it's not too difficult to follow. Here's a few snippets from the conclusion. I can only hope the court weighs this and...

There were a few nice lines from yesterday's filing but this might have been the best part. Disney is working extra hard to be a thorn in Desantis' side, and I say BRAVO!

Disney files response to Governor Desantis' motion to dismiss their case against him. https://deadline.com/2023/07/disney-lawsuit-ron-desantis-bob-iger-dismissal-response-1235448642/ The response seems very good, in my unprofessional non-legal expert opinion. I hope the judge will view it...

Not sure if it’s been discussed, but has there been any mention of what happens to the former board members and the land they’ve leased? I don’t even recall reading anything about it in the new legislation that formed CFTOD. I would guess it will be a topic of discussion for them at some point.

There should be a button to "downvote" or silence posts that are off-topic

It could be automated with a weighted system. For example: If 10 people were to click "Off-topic" on a post, then it would disappear and get marked for review by mods. Or, if it were 10 users with high points or reaction scores were to click it.

There should be a button to "downvote" or silence posts that are off-topic

It would be great if someone could come up with a good method in online forums and message threads like these, where the user community could easily silence those who post off-topic or even nasty comments rather than having to wait on a mod to come clean it up. I don't know if there's a feature...

Special ask for those commenting on the CFTOD meeting, could you please add the time stamp of the meeting and perhaps who you are commenting about?
