They would have saved a ton of goodwill with fans of the original ride.

I know you have. I’m just explaining why people preferred the Splash critters. The Splash critters had a less active role in the plot, but a much more active role in the environment. Hence why they were more engaging and memorable to most people. Everyone remembers the geese, the vultures, the...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

The “background” critters in Splash were both more memorable and much cuter. Maybe it’s because there were multiples of the geese, the gators, the vultures, etc. Or maybe it’s because they had singing roles, compared to the TBA critters that just stand there and rock back and forth.

Nintendo partnering with Universal to make attractions.

The approach they took was an exact version of the 3D Land/3D World artstyle. No coincidence that these came out the exact same time as Returns and Tropical Freeze.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Not really. Galaxy's Edge is massive. Too big for it's own merit.

The ideal scenario was multiple planets in multiple sections of the land. Like have a Tatooine area, have an Endor area, have a Death Star with a cool interior space.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

This attraction will destroy sightlines. This attraction will destroy themeing and atmosphere. This attraction won't even work reliably. I was right about TBA and I will be right about this.

Least surprising thing ever. Wouldn’t be the first change of the last decade that got massive internal and external pushback, but they decided to go along with it just to spite the critics.

Rumor Hall of Presidents Replaced by Muppets American History Show???

I’d rather see a musical revue of American songs brought to us by Sam Eagle and Ollie Owl. Or a spooky ride through the forest with Ichabod Crane. A Muppet history show is as uninteresting as HoP, but at least it will probably get them out of the Studios.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

It may have more plants, but I don’t think it’s an improvement. The main focal point, the mountain and the drop, doesn’t look as good. Also, nothing beats that instrumental of How Do You Do. All that being said, I don’t think that loop is bad. It’s fine in its own right.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I don’t think it would have been possible to surpass Splash Mountain on all fronts, but it definitely would have been easy for them to pull off a solid replacement that could stand the test of time. What we got was as close to the “worst case scenario” as we could get, at least from a creative...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Splash Mountain is/was an E ticket. I can't speak as much to Disneylanders since I've only been twice, but as someone who made the yearly pilgrimage to Walt Disney World, Splash Mountain was THE must do E-ticket of the Magic Kingdom. Arguably it was the highest quality dark ride at the resort...

I don't even know if I would say they learned from any mistakes. Most of the interior was complete around the time the Florida version opened. I think it's just that there were certain mistakes they couldn't repeat by nature of the difference in layout it inheritted from Splash.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

It was uncontested that it was one of the best rides ever made before Disney officially pulled the plug on it. Whether or not it was THE best is certainly up to personal opinion (it is for me obviously). It was also one of the most iconic attractions in their repertoire, and they through out...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

One and done per trip maybe. Speaking from experience riding the Florida version, I would marathon Splash. I rode TBA twice (with a gap of one week between those two rides) and I was done. The only reason we did it a third time was because I had booked a Lightning Lane 2 weeks prior. There are...

If your theming undermines your track layout (or vice versa), then clearly you’ve done something wrong. It might not be enough to turn some people off, but it’s objectively a mistake. It’s definitely necessary to get these things right if you are taking an existing ride and attempting to...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

This is because Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah in Splash Mountain had a primarily Gospel vocal arrangement, and they thought using the same style would be deemed too "problematic".
