Yes because if the storm swings 30 miles to the west, you cant get to Gainesville thru all the chaos. Better to have the good fortune to kvetch about it than being in the direct impact of a natural disaster.

No. Landfall is the area of lowest central pressure crossing the land. Its semantics, yes, but thats the nomenclature.

I'd take it as gospel that they're thinking about it. Probably behind the scenes discussions. Unlikely it will actually happen. So to answer your question, yes it's valid. Also unlikely.

Theres a difference between wanting to stay in a deluxe versus whining about it online. Most of the sort here seem to be "make the best of it" people but others seem to think they're entitled.

Given that a Cat4 storm with 130mph sustained winds was forecast to make landfall - or come damn near close - I haven't seen anyone overreact. Ive seen a lot of dumb people doing dumb things. Storm shifts 15 miles the other way and its absolute devastation.

Some people arent happy unless bodies are floating in the streets....
