FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

It’s an inaccurate analogy. Using your analogy, you previously paid $110 for an all-you-can-eat buffet that included lobster, steak, caviar, etc. Now the restaurant wants to change it so you pay $110 for a table, and then you still have to pay more for any food. Or you can not pay more and...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

When WDW opened in 1971, an adult admission was $3.50. (Children ages 3 to 11 were $1.00!). Adjusted for inflation, that’s about $24. By 1981, the last year of admission only tickets, prices were up to $8.00. But because inflation was so bad in the late 70s and early 80s, that still works out...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

Here’s another thing that REALLY bothers me. Prior to COVID, the parks were getting painfully crowded. At times, it was difficult to walk. Still, Standby lines were really good at getting people off the pathways and out of the stores, making those a bit less crowded. Now with the majority of...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

In many ways, this is a return to the separate admission and attraction tickets Disney sold until they went with an all inclusive ticket when Epcot opened in 1982. I would be ok with this if a WDW admission ticket was not already the most expensive amusement park ticket on the planet. Back in...

For those who might be interested, here's some of the pre-1971 artwork for the Venetian Resort, which was supposed to be located near the Contemporary.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Definitely get vaccinated BUT ... I still believe experts don't fully understand how COVID spreads. Let's compare states with the lowest vaccination rate: Mississippi - 63,417 doses per 100,000 Alabama - 67,918 Louisiana - 71,420 Wyoming - 72,453 Arkansas - 73,526 With states with the...

No, instead of trying to force 30% of the U.S. population to get vaccinated, we focus our energies on distributing vaccines to billions of people worldwide who want to get vaccinated.

I agree, cleaning is good. But numerous experts now say a lot of what was done is a waste of effort, effort that could be more productive elsewhere. I'm not here to argue against cleaning, I'm only pointing out that nearly all experts now agree that a lot of what was done was ineffective.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Or perhaps this "crowd" is simply being cautious? I'm fully vaccinated and happy to walk about without a mask! :) But it makes no difference to me if someone who is fully vaccinated continues to wear a mask. Why do you care?

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

It's not just masks. After more than a year of either being closed or having severely limited attendance, corporate Disney wants to start making money again. They are eliminating social distancing, upping park capacity, and packing people in. Remember, Disney has been perhaps the most...

As others have suggested, perhaps WDW is not a place for anyone who is not vaccinated, including anyone under the age of 12? No one HAS to go to WDW this year. You have options. Vacation somewhere less crowded in 2021, and wait until your children are vaccinated before heading to WDW. You’re...

With only 61.3% of the eligible population having received their first dose, the United States has reached a dubious milestone. The 7-day moving average of first doses is now at its lowest point of 2021. :(

Let's look at this more closely. Let's first look at the CNN-Moody's Back-to-Normal Index: The Back-to-Normal Index The pandemic economy is far from normal. So Moody’s Analytics and CNN Business have partnered to create a proprietary Back-to-Normal Index, comprised of 37 national and seven...

I’ll phrase it this way: When it comes to a financial analysis, I’ll take Moody’s over a bunch of UCLA economists who are paid by the State of California telling me how wonderful the government of the State of California is doing. Always consider the source.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Non-resort Guests are not the "lower priority/low spend guests". I'd call them middle priority. They spend a lot on their daily ticket and almost certainly a lot on food and souvenirs. From his statement at last month's J.P. Morgan conference, it's clear who Chapek thinks (knows) who are low...
