    Original Alice in Wonderland Ride

So I put together a paper cutout of the Doorknob crash door scene. Because there's no known photos of the full prop I mainly went off of the character's design in the film. I'd love some feedback, especially from those who got the chance to ride it!

And the Doorknob is yellow/gold? Just making sure because the photo makes it look blue.

    Original Alice in Wonderland Ride

Thanks for the info. I was pretty confused in the virtual ride through why the Doorknob looked like that, so I was wondering "wait, in the original ride did the Doorknob literally have those uncanny dead eyed screws?".. though judging by the original Fantasyland dark rides I would not be...

    Original Alice in Wonderland Ride

So I have a few questions about the Oversized Room if I am to make a miniature replica of it: 1. Was the footstool you passed under a full circle, or like a weird semi-oval? It never seemed like the room could fit a prop that big if it was a full build. 2. 2nd Cheshire Cat would quickly swing...

Don't worry, I've been studying the classic Fantasyland dark rides since I was 9 years old, so I have a dangerous knowledge of them.

    Original Alice in Wonderland Ride

So I mentioned a few days ago that I was interested in making some small replicas of props from the original Alice, and I'm thinking that I will probably do a miniature recreation of the Oversized Room. I did a practice drawing of one of the Cheshire Cat flats, it's a bit rough but came out...

Oh no, I'm talking about the repaint of the large Cheshire Cat on top of the footstool

Is it possible that both of them were tilted? In the other known photo of the repainted Cheshire Cat, it's at a different angle but it doesn't look any flatter. If anything, I'd say this one in particular looks like it's leaning.

Wow, it's so bizarre seeing a picture of old Fantasyland with it's medieval fair style while also being able to see Space Mountain in the background. Feels like they're from different eras, you know? Also, was the giant cutout of the Mad Hatter pouring tea for the March Hare part of the late...

Also, I think that there might have been a repaint of both Cheshire Cats? While the quality of the images isn't great, look at these photos of the pop-downs from both versions of the Oversized Room scene: the first one has a much more curved smile with noticeable teeth gaps and larger pupils...

Also, I cleaned up an old layout I found of MK's Toad attraction in case anyone finds it useful:

Yeah there's a lot of inconsistencies with some of the sound effects. Like how do the Mad Hatter and March Hare sing the Unbirthday Song while simultaneously shouting "Move down!"? Also if that is the White Rabbit's trumpet, then that means he's blowing the trumpet while singing "I'm Late".

    Original Alice in Wonderland Ride

When I was younger I had an idea for a ride exactly like this! It would be an Alice In Wonderland dark ride, more in the style of WDW's surreal Fantasyland dark rides, where the vehicles would be teacups that spinned around at different moments for both thrill and to showcase different scene...

Honestly, I think they would've definitely done that. The Imagineers working on the Magic Kingdom prioritised immersion and how the different lands weaved into each other. Opening day Walt Disney World was a legit work of art.

I doubt it was anything more that a mere doodle when brainstorming ideas. It would've been next to impossible to implement a ride system like that, especially in the rush job that was opening day Disneyland.

Unfortunately, I'm sure they were just all tossed out with the trash. Part of me hopes that they're out there, somewhere, collecting dust in an archive. but the truth is they looked nothing like the characters from the film, and by the 80s Disney had gotten the hang of perfectly recreating their...

Also, I think it's pretty clear that by this point the 1955 dark rides were already very outdated, as Disney's level of quality in their attractions skyrocketed during the 60s. Perhaps they decided to recreate the Disneyland dark rides with the intent of eventually copying them back to Anaheim...

    Original Alice in Wonderland Ride

Toad is more scary in a fun, cartoonish way, almost like a thrill ride. Sleepy Hollow would be similar to Snow White in how the entire ride would be getting chased through a dark forest by a crazy monster. Which makes me even more curious to how a Sleeping Beauty dark ride would've played out...
