Laptops - Let them sleep, keep them on, or what?

Yeah, the Dell documentation I received basically said you're basically killing the battery by watching DVD's or burning CD's without the computer being plugged in to AC. Both processes require a lot of power when compared to the general functioning of the laptop. I also learned you can save...

Laptops - Let them sleep, keep them on, or what?

Batteries are funny like that. My digital camera battery works for about 10 minutes now. So lose power if they are constantly kept charging. Others will quickly die if you recharge them when they have not been close to fully depleted. But with a laptop, the power management should correctly...

Mission Space: Are the Ride Capsules Monitored?

Well, think about a Vegas casino with thousands upon thousands.

Laptops - Let them sleep, keep them on, or what?

4 in 3 years. yikes! General accounting practices recognize a computer life at around 3-4 years. What do you do to the poor things?!

Disney Ride Has Sent Six To Hospital In Eight Months

I don't see where being offended comes into this? And what does putting your child in someone's care have to do with letting people make there own decisions? You can decide who you leave your child with. However, you can't tell other people who they can or can't. I'm just really...

Laptops - Let them sleep, keep them on, or what?

Well, mine has been on and running all day, and it's not hot at all. It's barely even warm. It is brand new, so I'm sure the cooling process has advanced. I did notice that the dvd drive / burner gives off a TON of heat, however.

Disney Ride Has Sent Six To Hospital In Eight Months

Instating an age cut-off runs the risk of being too paternalistic. Individuals have to have the right to make their own decisions, no matter how ill-equiped they may be for making good decisions. Concerning the claustrophobia.. how small is the pod? Are we talking smaller than the virtual...

Laptops - Let them sleep, keep them on, or what?

That's what I've been doing. Seems system safe while user friendly. I had my desktop for 4 years running constantly and it did alright, however. No hybernate option with that though.

Laptops - Let them sleep, keep them on, or what?

I just got a new laptop, and I was wondering how people treat theirs. Not considering power issues (keeping it plug in), do you keep yours on... or is it set to hybernate after a while, or do you turn it off? I know some say powering up/down wears the harddrive. But, keeping it on...

    Legacy Critiques: Van Helsing

Since when is 'Vampire' a species? And why would the Frankenstein monster be the key? I thought hooking him in as part of the electrical chain was pretty lame... wouldn't it have made more sense to have figured out how Dr. Frankenstein made him, and go from there? It's like the monster was...

    Questions

Just a note. "Questions" is a rather uninformative subject heading. I just came here to see what you could have possibly ment. Just FYI.:animwink:

    Legacy Critiques: Van Helsing

In my opinion, over two hours is not needed for something so bland. Perhaps I should have said "extremely poor plot". SPOILERS _____ SPOILERS ______ Why did Dracula want an army of winged creatures? - To give him something to do in a 2+ hour movie! Why could only a...

Mission Space to be shut down!?

True, it's a small percent... but percentages cannot be evaluated the same across all groupings. If I said that there was a 1% chance that you would die on the ride, you would say that is very high. Similarly, if I said you had a 1% chance of becoming president, you would say that was high...

Problems in the Dorm - You have no idea!

Personally, I don't think coed dorms have anything to do with the situation. This attack actually took place at an all girls dorm (although that article does not indicate as much).

    Legacy Critiques: Van Helsing

I actually give "Van Helsing" an unconditional F Once again, Hollywood fills the screen with plastic CGI, no plot, attrocious acting... and does so for a good 45 minutes too long. My biggest complaint is that the movie repeated the same hyperspastic action sequences again and again...

    .

Ah, so familiar. Spring break of my sophomore year in College. 5 of us. 1 desperately wanting another one. We went as a group of 5 friends, came back a group of 2 and another of 3. The 3 of us haven't spoken to the other 2 since. They were whiny, irritable, etc. By our 5th day, the...

Disney Ride Has Sent Six To Hospital In Eight Months

I understand the reluctance to have more lines. Who really needs that? But I have heard that capacity woes haven't been an issue with the ride. People keep saying they have been able to walk right on the ride while Test Track keeps its 45+ minute waits!

    Meal Size?

Tell them you want the smaller kids portion because you do not want to aid and abett the growing obesity in the united states, and that if they give you any trouble, you should accuse them of being fat merchants!

Problems in the Dorm - You have no idea!

NYC, yes... but secured dorms. People need ID's to get past security. So, technically, the only things that could happen is an attack by another student... which, is what happened, Word has it this is actually only one of two attacks... that he did it to another girl a week later.
