Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

The Indy ride in Anaheim is one of my favorites. I think a land, or a mini-land anyway would be great fun. One thing I love about the Anaheim ride is that it tells it's own adventure, instead of being a "ride the movie" ride, which always rings more false to me.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I doubt it. Most casual fans aren't really familiar with specific settings to the level that it forms an important part of their conception of Star Wars. I say this as an active member of the 501st and the Rebel Legion. Most casuals are most familiars with the CHARACTERS. They know Darth...

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

You hit on a point that's been in the back on my mind. Now don't get me wrong, I really like the Wizarding World sections. Well done, IMO. But Harry Potter is an IP very dependent on PLACE. If we're going to experience the Wizarding World, we want to see those places... Hogwarts, Hogsmeade...

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I still wish there were a way to use Star Tours as a way (not the only way) to go from the Non-Star Wars part of the park, to Star Wars land. Just an exit tunnel would be good enough.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Yeah... it's a relatively cheap and effective way to create the impression of a different place. And let's face it, Star Wars loves them some rocky planets too. :)

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I feel your pain. I think this summer we probably took out last trip there until this is all done. My daughter is 13 now, and she'll be in college by the time this is done. I hope she will enjoy one last trip to Disney with us when this all gets done, even if just to indulge her ole man the...

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Me, that's who. Carrie Fisher is awesome and Leia is even more awesome. I certainly want to see Vader, and we'll probably see Maul, but I'd bet money we don't see Anakin. At least I hope not. :) We need the dorids, Chewie, Han, Luke, and the newbies too... Rey, Poe and Finn. Don't foget the...

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I'm completely FINE with a new planet. Especially if it were going to be Tatooine. Yeah, I want someplace with more shade, thanks. ;)

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Personally, I'd love the Dinosaur/Indy-type ride system for that. Sorta the same deal as how in Star Tours you wind up in the middle of a space battle, or pod race (or whatever), you find yourself surrounded on all sides by a battle.... animatronic stormies, Kylo Ren, Good guys... I'd love it.

Star Wars Launch Bay coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios later this year

Thanks for laying that out. I'll give my input. I love Disney, pretty much all of it, and I'm a 50-year-old guy. But I disagree on Star Wars not fitting Disney, and here's why: Star Wars, ultimately, is myth. Sure, it's set in space, but it has more in common wait fairy tales, than with...

Best hotel for a WDW newbie?

Hey, I'll chime in too. If I were you, I'd avoid the value resorts. They are great in their own right, but they stuffed to the bring, overflowing with kids. Very loud kids. That's a not a terrible thing.... it is Disney after all, but it does remove the relaxation factor of the resort itself...

    On-line check in - upgrade

I did recently. I booked a regular concierge room at the GF, checked in online and we got a lovely theme park view room. Very nice surprise!

I think he referring to the fact that they said they were theme parks, as opposed to expansions of existing theme parks.

    AVATAR land construction progress

For me, neither one feels like you're actually entering the castle you see from a distance, though I think the Hogwart's method works a bit better. I think both look pretty good, though obviously Hogwarts is much bigger than Beast's castle.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Well, he only mentioned the two "signature" rides. I don't think that rules out shows or lesser rides. I'd love to see a large scale show there as well. Maybe a First Order v Resistance type thing.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Very much agree. I like both the Laugh Floor and Space Ranger Spin. I'd like them both better in a Pixar-themed land at DHS. It's not a HUGE deal to me, but I would prefer it. Do something "futurey" with that space at the Magic Kingdom.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Umm... Star Wars IS Disney now. And it's not like Disney and Lucasfilm have not had a long relationship. DHS, in particular, should be about the non-classic Disney IP's IMO. And as outdated as it is, the Great Movie Ride is STILL something I hit every time. Star Wars is, arguable, the most...

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I get that, but homestly... Star Wars Land without Darth Vader? Nope! If we can have Fantasyland with all the different heroes and princesses together, not one is going to be bothered by mixing Vader and Kylo Ren.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

My family took a longish Disney World trip this summer, kinda thinking, "this is th last one with our dqughter as a kid." After this, I'm thinking she will still be a kid at 20 and we're going!
