Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

In the castle park Small World and LPdCdF (Contes des fées) sit next to each other. Both gentle slow moving flat boat rides, more identical than a log flume and dark ride. It's not overkill, these rides will feel part of a larger attraction roster. Which is only getting more varied at Adventure World rather less with the two water rides.

I think people far underestimate Europeans willingness to go on water rides in cold weather. Last year I rode the rapids at Efteling in December and a log flume at Phantasialand in January.

Plus water rides typically have an annual refurb so I am sure Lion King will be after Christmas to February school holidays each year.
Yes, I do DLP all year round, even if I prefer 30°. That includes Thunder and outdoor boat rides.

Coldest I've ever been in a Disney Park:

Tokyo end if May with a freezing evening ocean wind, sunburned from 27° sun all day. Wow, their climate is fickle. Tokyo must have the most difficult climate of all parks, they get all the extremes from all the other resorts.

Paris in February, below zero. I was prepared, but you just can't be outside all day at some point anymore.

Orlando in december. Wow, wasn't expecting it to get that cold. Long pants and summer jacket didn't suffice.

I have to say I’ve watched it a few times from different angles and each time see new effects / details. There’s an awful lot of eye candy sometimes all at the same time.

Yeah! It was only on the second video that I realized the sparklers in the water were floating towards the audience when they first got into position for the finale. 🤯

What a hot mess of a show thematically, but I'd be lying if I wasn't thoroughly mesmerized; the tech is doing a lot of heavy lifting entertaining the hell out of me.

I desperately want this tech in EPCOT; I can already imagine the beacons of light "lifting" off SSE and traveling to the World Showcase lagoon and I've got chills.
Yeah at a certain point there’s too many disparate IPs being thrown into these nighttime shows that have nothing connecting them.

But they try to pull it together with the clunky narration about inspiration, but it just doesn’t work.

Luminous does it better with making the story and narration about the universal human experience, and Happily Ever After does it even without narration by making the story about the hero’s journey.

But just saying “inspiration” 50 times does not make it the theme of the show. Still looks very cool though. Just lacking heart imo

Absolutely. This show is like WoC: One when I would've preferred something closer to World of Color throughline-wise.

If nothing else, this is incredibly strong infrastructure for the park that they can continue to iterate and build on.

Apparantly they close the bridge at night and don't reopen it so there is only one way to exit after cascade of lights which is odd.

So it seems like right as the show ends they start sending the boat drones away backstage under the bridge including the ones that have pyro on them so that explains why they cannot have the bridge open. They might not have enough battery to stay around after the show ends & allow people to exit via the bridge.

I’m not sure if it’s been posted before but park lore recently released an image of what the park will look like as it reopens which looks interesting and puts into perspective the unique challenges the park has going forward

If anything the park has the least amount of challenges its ever had now. Aside from running out of room.

The build out I pulled that from goes through some of the park’s unique challenge like it’s off centre of gravity, what it’s hub actually is and how a lot of the legacy park has strange spur of the moment decisions like if you consider world premiere plaza as the hub having a giant hard to retheme e ticket right in the hub may be a problem going forward

I’m assuming they will ignore the legacy park from now on till all plots of land around adventure bay are full but the park still has a lot of unique challenges

Then don’t retheme it. It’s not the best location but I wouldn’t call it a problem. The park finally has no dead ends - it’s now hub and spoke, admittedly with its north spike being a bit bent. If anything it’s reminiscent of Epcot now - and people said that wouldn’t work when it opened.

The biggest issue going forwards is running out room. The stunt show / Alice plot is prime estate but after that the lake has just 2 empty plots, one of which is constrained at least for now by the new sub stations. The site is less than half allocated for D-MGM Europe and I hope it doesn’t come back to bite them.

If you take out the stage show and cars then remove the substations in the future you might be able to extend it to 4 plots besides lion king and frozen (between lion king and frozen, on the other side of the service creek, where cars is and shoved down beneath lion king including where the theatre of the stars is now) but the around the lake lands are so small that all that might end up doing is boxing you in

But I have no idea where else the park can go if the around the lake lands aren’t enough. Theyve altered the entire structure of the park to fit that design

As much as I love live entertainment in the parks they can always pull down a theater and/or Stitch Live/Disney Jr complex if they get super stuck for space. Animation celebration too.

I could see Crush’s coaster/carpets/Cars rally/backstage building there going one day far into the future too.

Talking decades out here.
