Oh no, construction
Oh no, construction
True but no one goes to the Louvre to ride the Mona LisaNo. There is no chance of that, because the entire area was designed - narratively, aesthetically, spatially - around the RoA. You can’t just replace that organizing element, let alone replace it with an Autopia rip-off based on the direct-to-video offshoot of Pixar’s worst franchise, and expect the area not to suffer immensely. You can’t just draw a picture of Elvis in the middle of the Last Supper and not destroy the composition, even if it’s a really cool picture of Elvis.
Of course, some folks in this thread think typing “art is subjective” makes Timmy’s finger painting the artistic equivalent of the Mona Lisa, so…

Two entire lands were spatially organized around the river…I'd agree if we were talking about Disneyland. But the MK river was not well integrated into the surrounding lands at all. The majority of the accessible riverfront was taken up by stroller parking and a small boardwalk.
In MK the river was something you navigated around in order to reach attractions, it was not as well integrated as it is in Disneyland.
In MK the grounding element of the river is something people told you about, not that you acruslly felt.
Of course it's clear you just don't like Cars so there is that aspect of it as well.
Eh I'm thrilled replacing something I've only done or cared about a handful of times to something that will probably be a guaranteed ride on every time I go plus an amazing land. It's an absolute slam dunk, no debates for me. 14 acres for a playground and riverboat that was not well utilized in the most busy park in the world was crazy to me :shrugging:Of course you are.
How exactly is the river required to be that big that it's purpose cannot be replaced with a smaller river? I'm just struggling with that. Unless I missed a crucial part of Big Thunder mountain that says "oh boy, it's sure a good thing this river is exactly x feet wide or else this mountain would be doomed!"No. There is no chance of that, because the entire area was designed - narratively, aesthetically, spatially - around the RoA. Because actual places like those depicted in the lands are organized around big, navigable waters, not little water ways. How exactly is the river required to be that big that it's purpose cannot be replaced with a smaller river?
I rest my case.Eh I'm thrilled replacing something I've only done or cared about a handful of times

The Last Supper is just an old painting by some dead white guy to some people.No. There is no chance of that, because the entire area was designed - narratively, aesthetically, spatially - around the RoA. What am I supposed to do? Go on it until I like it? I tried it out a few time, it was alright but nothing special.I rest my case.
Your lack of ability to grasp this illustrates why the river and boat being replaced as they are works so well for you.How exactly is the river required to be that big that it's purpose cannot be replaced with a smaller river? I live in a city with a major river that used to be a major port that dried up after a while. ROA did not touch that kind of river in scale anyway. I wouldn't say it's a good idea to build a scale river even with the land because you can just make inferences and you can change the plot slightly to reflect a new narrative.Your lack of ability to grasp this illustrates why the river and boat being replaced as they are works so well for you.

Flower beds and manicured lawns isn’t what comes to mind for Piston Peak. What is the implication here? That one is a completed area and beautiful and one is a massive construction zone and is not beautiful?
Is there not a chance that, when completed, these two new areas could be just as, or even exceed, the beauty of that area in Disneyland Paris?
Does it need to look the same? I feel like there's a chance there can be much more elaborate beauty in what they are trying to achieve with Piston Peak and it's "National Parks" type vibe.Flower beds and manicured lawns isn’t what comes to mind for Piston Peak.
Surely you don’t think it could look remotely the same?

Yes that why IM happy with replacing stuff.-emphasis by me of course.
Disney parks need a variety of attractions that can be enjoyed and discovered by a variety of guests. Sometimes the more basic and less flashy attractions have more heart and soul and are enjoyed by repeat guests.
It was years of being a passholder before I discovered voices of liberty for example.
