Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

With Lion King coming, that's two water rides next to each other. Interesting design choice.
Fantasyland has multiple tracked dark rides next to each other and that seems to work out okay.

In multiple Adventureland's Pirates live right next door to the Jungle Cruise and thats been fine for decades.

If the rides are good then it shouldn't be a problem.

There’s also the point that this is Paris, not Orlando.

Where it’s wet and cold for much of the year. Sitting in a wet boat, let alone getting soaked à la Splash / Tiana, is going to be miserable.

When we went in October, we used jackets to sit on for both IASW and Le Pays des Contes de Fees.

I dare say they’ll pull a Tokyo and have a splash size control.

The you’ll just have to contend with freezing rain hitting your face at 30mph…

At least they’ll give you the option.

When we went to WDW one February, not only did they skip the battleship scene of the backlot tour, they closed Splash and Kali. It’s not even as if it was anywhere near freezing, they just said the water temperature was too cold. 😂

At least Lion King is more of a (for a lack of better terms) log flume rather than a boat ride like Frozen as Lion King has 3 drops, 1 at least significantly taller than Frozen's. Also Lion King is mostly indoors apart from the final drop which should help with the Winter months a lot

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

That sounds far worse than being on RC Racers in the rain! 🥶
I remember riding duelling dragons as it started to rain.

I think people far underestimate Europeans willingness to go on water rides in cold weather. Last year I rode the rapids at Efteling in December and a log flume at Phantasialand in January.

Plus water rides typically have an annual refurb so I am sure Lion King will be after Christmas to February school holidays each year.

I am also certain they will build with specification that the splash can be more or less turned off In the winter.

I really don’t consider these rides overlapping. One is a more traditional boat dark ride and the other is a more traditional log flume. A Jungle Cruise or an SDL Pirates type experience could easily be a third option and I really wouldn’t quantify the experiences as redundant with one another.

If anything, the lineup of Frozen, Tangled, Sindbad commits far more duplication in a string. They are all just variations of boat dark rides in a row.

Totally agree. It's just that in a new area with so few actual attractions, I'd think they'd want something more different as their big draws. In the Fantasylands, I view tracked dark rides more as supporting roles.

I've watched a few videos of the new show, and just ... wow. I wish the US parks could leverage all this technology - the show is stunning, and innovative in how it leverages all the tech. Water drones that have pyro equipped?! Gagged.
I have to say I’ve watched it a few times from different angles and each time see new effects / details. There’s an awful lot of eye candy sometimes all at the same time.
