Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

On paper, I didn’t think this expansion had enough substance to make a real difference. And while the attractions themselves are not groundbreaking, I think I get it now. This goes to show how much nice vistas, beautiful detailing, and evocative music can create an attractive vibe.

Still can’t stand the new name, but this seems to be a winner.

Agreed on every point you made. The video really sells the charm of the area. The new score is gorgeous! And to your point, the vista across the lake, particularly the juxtaposition of the blue tones of Frozen against the bright lights of the restaurant, really give the park a whole new sense of intrigue and scale that it never had before, so kudos to the Imagineers!

But to your last point, and not to beat a deceased carcass, the names are crud and only get worse. "Disney Princesses Cavalcade" along "Adventure Way" in "Disney Adventure World."

You really couldn't make it more generic if you tried. Like you really couldn't. Might as well call it Parade 1 in Land 4 in Theme Park 2.

There was no where for the park to grow beyond it's original, awkward c-shaped layout, stuck with the tram tour that ran along its northern border. The park needed a major overhaul to give space for new, substantial additions.

Much of this expansion is infrastructure work that isn't easy to market as exciting to tourists. A 10 acre lake, backstage marina, swing bridge, several hundred feet of pathways, restrooms, food venues (in a park that relied constantly on temporary food stalls) all built from scratch and all important for both operations and aesthetics.

Delaying construction of the 2nd land, and especially the swing ride, have absolutely hampered what could have been a more eventful opening, but the park is better in a number of ways beyond what's shown on an itemized list.

With Frozen only having one ride, and nothing in between it and the flat ride, if it closes for refurbishment between now and the opening of Lion King will they just block off the path around the lake? Will guests be willing to walk over to a land if the only things open are the cafeteria and meet and greet?
It has an impressively large store too!

The recently retitled "Disney Adventure World" is not to be confused with the new "Disney Adventure" cruise ship, both of which are unrelated to "Adventures by Disney", their guided tour program

🙃
Reminds me of Apple TV.

The Apple TV 4K streaming box, the Apple TV streaming service, and the Apple TV app refer to completely different products and it causes widespread confusion.

I dont know what to make of it. It's pretty in areas, but there is absolutely no substance to it. The decision to do Frozen Ever After is just flawed to me. The park is desperate for big hit attraction, and this isn't it.
I guess had they gone through with Rise as well that would have helped. A lot.

For now this is as much as laying the basis for the future (and finally an every-night night show) as attractions. More physical space. More walking room. It need fleshing out fast though, and not with spinners. And please god not with Flight of Passage either.

Cloning Frozen Ever After never made any sense. It's a mediocre attraction that was hamstrung by being retrofitted into/designed around Maelstrom's layout. That's not the ride they would have built for Frozen without those constraints, so why double down on it?

In all fairness this (and Hong Kong’s) are expanded versions of Maelstrom with differing layouts. But yes, their basis is on 1988.

Right, which was my original complaint, but it seems like a strong foundation to build on. It's a very World Showcasey vibe, but more manageable on the feet. And unlike a lot of new attractions Disney does these days, none of this required the removal of any attractions. It's all additions.

Are there a lot of additions? No, but in 10 years it will probably be full of delightful experiences. For right now, it's a very pleasant promenade with a pretty spinner and a nice new flume ride. (And yes, it's not the super ambitious Tokyo version, but it does appear that it has lengthened / improved pacing on the Epcot version.)

To be fair, Walt era 'Fantasy on Parade on Main Street in Disneyland’ is pretty generic too when you think about it, we have simply over time attached immense emotional value to these names.

So youre saying Flight of Passage would be the plan if they settle on Avatar for the third land? 👀 I thought theyd build another version of whats coming to DCA.

I agree with others, this isnt the groundbreaking rides smash we hoped for, but as a DLP home resort guy, the placemaking is what was desperately needed here and I welcome it with open arms.
