2nd and 3rd parks at Shanghai Disney Resort

Thank...goodness? The company doesn't have the focus nowadays to build and sustain an EPCOT-style park.

Are we thinking spirit of EPCOT, but heavier fantasy skew?
Well, I highly doubt that anything like the world showcase gets greenlit in China because of the political climate there. For some reason I’m picturing an amalgamation of Epcot and Animal Kingdom and that can go really well or really bad.

I could very well see a WestCOT-esque “Four Corners” style park that features Asia, Europe, Africa, and Americas lands with Disney IP sprinkled throughout.

The other option could be similar to Disney Adventure World, which would allow for an Avatar land, for example.

If they do end up putting a park on the Toy Story lot in California, I wonder if they would use the same template for both.

The Toy Story lot is 73 acres (the entire block is 140 acres if Disney were willing/able to purchase the other properties), and the space in Shanghai for the second park is also about 140 acres. I’m sure they’d be different, but I could definitely see Disney using that World Showcase/WestCOT style as a template for both locations.

It does box them in to only being able to use IP based on real-world locations though, which I wonder if they’d see as too limiting. The Adventure World “anything goes” style park gives them a lot more options to slot in and swap out IP

I’ve heard but don’t necessarily believe that Shanghai wants their own Star Wars area but not a clone of Galaxy’s Edge.

Again this is essentially bus driver gossip but I do find the idea interesting.

Was that the old Launch Bay when it opened? Why did that and Tarzan close so early in the park's history, I think both closed 2019 so only 3 years into it being open?

Star wars isn’t particularly successful in that market. The decision to add that would have proceeded The Force Awakens actually debuting in China, so there were hopes there about franchise viability that didn’t materialize.
