Probably because guidelines on aspirin have changed in general lately. Unless you’re high risk, there are other side effects that you want to avoid. The old “aspirin a day” for everyone of a certain age is no longer recommended by most doctors.

Yes, I’m aware of all that, but nobody can seem to tell me why.
Guess I’ll hafta’ Google, which I probably shoulda’ done in the first place.

Hope the songs are better than some of the AI generated picture tributes people are posting. Not much of a tribute when it’s not even Adam. 🤦‍♂️

The song quality is actually pretty good. Suno does a nice job. Way better than many of the supporters would have been able to produce!

It’s just really funny to see them getting thousands of views and comments from people who have no idea.

The short version is that the risks outweigh the benefits.

NSAIDs are not without risks, but for the purposes of this thread, aspirin does jack squat to prevent a Deep Vein Thrombosis. Aspirin affects platelet function which is central to lowering the risk of an arthrosclerotic plaque rupture causing an obstructing thrombus in an artery (the stuff that cause heart attacks and most primary strokes, aka strokes caused by the brain’s arteries, but does very little to prevent clots from forming in your veins and heart. There the non cellular pathway of clot formation is usually what malfunctions to cause the clot, so you need to take medicines to affect that pathway to prevent them. Those drugs are prescription only because they put you at a much higher risk for bleeding and are dangerous enough on their own that you need a really good reason to be on them.

Finally, you all need to cool it on just assigning a cause of death so flippantly. There are lots of reasons 51 year old men can have a sudden death. For men, generally the 50s are the “danger decade” where they will develop a chronic disease that will significantly shorten their life span (and if they make it through to 60 unscathed likely live another 20 years.). He could have died of a travel related Pulmonary Embolism, but it could have been due to something else (un diagnosed cancer,) or could have been something else entirely (heart attacks, massive stroke, inter cranial hemorrhage, etc.) I think a lot of you are equating 50s to 40s or even late 30s and you shouldn’t.

That said RIP Adam.

As far as your first paragraph goes, I googled and found the info.

As far as your second paragraph goes, I didn’t come even remotely close to assigning anything to anybody. I simply asked about aspirin and DVT.
Again, I googled and found the info.
Nobody knows what caused his death, as of yet.
Don’t make assumptions about me and assign me to the DVT theory. I did no such thing.
Calm down.

As far as your last sentence, as I’ve posted here before, may he indeed R.I.P.

I was the one who brought up the DVT similarities with a relative who died a couple days after a long flight back in the 1990s.

I also said multiple times that doesn't mean there's any indication that's what happened to Adam. Just similarities.

Not sure who he's claiming is "assigning" anything to anyone's situation.

Yea, not exactly sure what brought that tirade on, but I sure didn’t appreciate it.

The second paragraph starts with You all because while I replied to you, after that first paragraph it’s not specifically addressed to you anymore. That second paragraph was more of a general reaction that seemed to form that everyone was passing off this as the COD and moving on. I was simply stating it’s one of many likely causes. Not sure why my post comes off as angry, I’m not. Just trying to educate a bit. Clearly my attempts to color that information so it doesn’t come off as dry (and thus skimmed over) with some colloquial phrases is being read as angry here.

Not sure why my post comes off as angry…

And, therein, may lie the problem…”jack squat”, “cool it”, “flippantly”, “I think a lot of you…blah, blah, blah…and you shouldn’t”.
If not angry, condescending at the very least, but I’m goin’ with both… :cyclops:

and now the thread is suddenly and seemingly about something other than Adam The Woo....

jack squat is a fun way to say nothing. Everything else you mentioned all refer to the points where I challenge the group think that’s developed and it’s why I didn’t reply to this thread for the longest time. No one wants to hear they are wrong, blah, blah, blah was the entire reason I posted this, you heard a challenge to your point of view and completely tuned out the rest. Gotta love modern society where basic truths are determined by the majority, facts be dammed.

One last thing before I go, I’ll just say out front, if you are approaching 50 and havent seen a doctor, you need to. 50 is the age where even if you feel great, you’re old enough that’s not enough. 50 years is five years overdue from colon cancer screening, and 50 is when undiagnosed Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia and diabetes needs to be dealt with immediately least you get a heart attack or a stroke. I have no idea if Adam did this or not.

But if that comes off as angry, feel free to live in ignorance and only consult Dr Google and Facebook.

back to Adam - anyone else doing some deep dives on his videos and just downright fascinated with his life?
"Has anyone else watched the videos of the guy who posted to YouTube for 15 years mostly about the very subject this site is about?"

I fell off watching him a while back. Won't get into why, doesn't matter now. I'm most surprised by the other vloggers talking about how much he influenced them behind the scenes. He really didn't seem like that kind of guy, but it looks like he was everyone's sounding board for a lot of what they go through for vlogging.

WTH…?!?!?!
Again, I didn’t have a point, I just asked about aspirin and DVT.
I’m not even part of the “group think” on this, at all. Quit making assumptions about me, please.

I’m 63 years old, and have SVT. Meds as needed for that. Haven’t had a sustained event in about 6 years. So, I’ve had my heart screened.
I’ve had 3 colonoscopies, my HBP is under control with meds and I get a yearly physical.
For any concerns beyond that, I’ll make an appointment. Example: I found a small lump under my arm once. Doc said it was probably the kind of deodorant I was using clogging up a hair follicle, and to come back if it didn’t resolve on its own within a week. It resolved on its own, thankfully.

Thus, I’m definitely NOT living in ignorance, thank you very much.
WOOF…!!!!! 🤨

I didn’t watch him regularly either. I was mildly interested in him when he got banned from WDW - just cause that’s an interesting story.

Ironically - I had just seen his posts while he was in Paris for Christmas - which seems spooky that I just started noticing him again a week or so before his passing.

But now I’m genuinely fascinated with the guy.

I went back and started watching the videos on his main channel from the start. He had already been vlogging for about 4 years when I discovered him, so most of those early ones I haven't seen. I'll probably do that with his Daily Woo channel too, but at over 4000 videos, that's gonna take a long time. His main channel is at just under 400, and alot of the early ones are no more than 10 minutes long.

There are alot of people coming out and saying how much he influenced them and inspired them to start making their own YouTube videos. He started in 2009, back when hardly anyone was doing what he did. His friends have said how much he inspired them and supported them in what they were doing.
