Watched Zootopia 2 yesterday and it was honestly better than I expected! I give it an 8.5/10, better than the first film imo and film had many funny and shocking moments in it

Saw it this week with my son and the cousin crew. I thought it threaded the needle between action and plot extremely well. The kids didn’t get bored and squirmy and the adults had something with some substance to watch.

I think I liked this movie more than the first. Which is a hard thing to do with the novelty stripped out.

Same here. I wasn’t expecting much and then heard that it was getting good reviews so then I was wishing I hadn’t heard it was getting good reviews so that my expectations were lower. It was pretty good. This might be the first time a Disney animated sequel is better than the original since Rescuers Down Under.

Did you the sense that the Marsh district (and its jazzy Southern vibes) might be part of a pitch to OLC to retheme Splash Mountain? Especially considering how vocal they have been about the Zootopia movies influencing the theme parks and vice versa.

Retheming Splash is in the queue, right behind re-doing Imagination.

It hasn’t opened In Japan yet, so we’ll see in part first on that regard.

The second part is the political capital and push to convert has significantly lessened. OLC has a mandate towards originality and if anything against Shanghai they might not be top priority to chase after Zootopia as a property; when Splash now is an original attraction for them.

The third is this isn’t Disney company, there’s no business case right now.

Now if all three of those things align, Zootopia wouldn’t be hard to imagine. But I am equally betting that “Zip-a-Dee-doo-dah” returns as a soft parks anthem domestically.
