Jared Leto confirms new Tron movie!

I'm looking forward to it. Interestingly, the one universal comment is not likeing Jared Leto is in it. He's a non entity to me as an actor and so I have zero opinion. Besides his lame Joker, I have no idea what the last film I saw him in was. Maybe Panic Room?

Is he bad? Annoying? Just that he's a weirdo and talk there's creepish stuff that goes on?

There are many disturbing reports of his conduct towards young women and cast members alike. That is what is distasteful to many.

In terms of on camera performances, he has been good to great at times (his peak being Dallas Buyers Club a decade ago). He’s been fine in stuff like Blade Runner 2049 but no means the standout. His Joker, his most high profile role to date, was abysmal.

All that to say, despite acting for decades I don’t know he’s a marketable lead in the sense he’s really not known to help “open” a movie. When was the last time a friend said, “hey, let’s go see that new Jared Leto movie?” Couple that with his off-screen drama and resurrecting a moribund franchise, I view this as a weird choice.

The last movie I saw him in was Morbius. Not a good movie but I don't fault him for it. Tron looks like a lot of eye candy with a silly story. I'll see the movie and buy the toys.

I had a good time watching it. It's a simple story, but that's fine. Some of the dialogue and acting isn't great but it's a clearly laid out simple story that was entertaining. Felt more like an old school early 90s, 80s action film. With modern visuals that wouldn't have been possible back then.

While I saw it in Imax 3D, which will have enhanced the experience. I suspect when it reaches streaming, most people who watch it will find it a perfectly fine.

The problem with these simple streamlined kind of films is that it'd be easy to pick apart but it's not trying to do anything deep. It's very simple and straight forward.

Yeah maybe a character in real life would spend more time processing being sucked into the grid, but we know all that and the movie just moves past a lot of that exposition because we know the world.

Saw it in 3-D as one should. The film is gorgeous. The various grids are distinct and I love that we go back to seeing the interactions between users/programs along with how something like a "hack" is interpreted literally in the digital world which Legacy was missing. The digital elements in the real world looked flawless and that was something I'd always wondered if it would work. The Dillingers are well cast. I'll say Evans and Gillan actually look like descendants of Ed Dillinger and their dynamic was well done. Ares and Athena are both well cast for what the characters are meant to be. The problems with this film all lie on the Encom side- mainly the horribly bland and bad-acting lead and her sidekick who does a disservice to long history of lovable quippy sidekicks. Oddly, there are two underlings with far less screen time but managed to make for a more convincing and engaging duo.

Anyway, no Tron film has been actually great, but they are all very much Tron films and that is in its way a great thing. Come for the aesthetics A.K.A bio-digital jazz and you won't be disappointed in that regard. I do understand why none of these projects have been successful, yet dearly hope they make more.
