Len Testa - “Disney positions itself as the all-American vacation. The irony is that most Americans can’t afford it.”

I cannot find a single flight suggestion on google in either my local airport (Syracuse) or JFK for more than $350 roundtrip for all of march. Not saying you're wrong but I don't know where you're looking. Average price is about $200 which yeah... its spring break. It's gonna be busy and pricier.

That’s a great deal!

The BLS says the average airfare to Orlando from around the US was $294 per person earlier this year: https://www.transtats.bts.gov/averagefare/.

If you get the chance go over and check out the "Quick Service" options in the Harry Potter lands at Universal. I think the pricing and quality there is really awesome and is one of my favorite spots for quick service type of food. The food court at Cabana Bay is pretty incredible as well. Just as a comparison to the offerings at Disney. Marie
On the topic of food at Harry Potter world I implore everyone to not order the pumpkin soup at the leaky cauldron. It tastes nothing like you’re expecting and the only thing at universal that I’ve had that’s worse is universals quick-service pizza.

Yes to me thats one of their biggest mistake. No need to be greedy with the DVC. You had lifelong customer stream built in people basically locked in & he got stupid and by many reports its catching up to him

They keep building them and people apparently keep paying for them, so was it a financial mistake? I think so, but I’m a customer, not the seller. Apparently, the biggest mistake of my Disney career was being in middle/high school in the mid 2000s.

On flights, some of y’all think you’re too bougie for Spirit and it shows. I fly them all the time and have never had an issue. A few less amenities, but to save 100s, I can handle no in-flight snack and coke for my hour and a half flight.

Who said anything about spirit?

The travel market and overall economic conditions dictate the appropriate price. You see this manifested with discounts to try and offset overpricing…but it’s not working enough

They also need a price freeze to allow means to catch up.

Why?

Because declines in attendance do more damage than the gate charge. The easy money is not there…really that should be the “hook”/loss leader…

Everybody in the park is more valuable because they consumer the higher profit products. Currently those are “in order” of value are:
1. Lightning lanes
2. Merch
3. Drinks
4. Food.

So losing raw numbers hurts the bottomline. That is how the model works. And that’s how you play it.

I’m not even gonna get into the longterm damage of “breaking the spell” for future generations that has been their basis for 100+ years. That’s Mono’s department 🤓
100% agree. I don't understand why they don't keep ticket prices reasonable to get people in the parks to buy over priced food and merchandise. Also, a crowded park would sell more line skips as you stated.

Now, If you want to keep AP prices high to try and deter a lot of local foot traffic who may be less inclined to spend in the parks, I get it. But they should absolutely try and lure in the family from Denver with lower gate prices.

The reason is simple. It doesn’t work in a business sense. Think about it, if it was that simple, they would have done it. Disney positions themselves as a premium brand, if they end up costing as much as or less than a six flags? That crumbles instantly. It doesn’t become “oh wow Disney is so affordable” it becomes “Oh Disney? That park lets anyone in and tons of teenagers cause a bunch of trouble” just like the six flags parks. They price people out of the worst behaviors basically subconsciously by knowing how much money they lose if they act up. It doesn’t always work at all but look at parks like six flags and what they deal with on a regular basis. No one cares about getting kicked out of a six flags

Most of what I’ve had is just not seasoned well and very “meat and potatoes”.
The issue is with what you've had, not with British food itself.

I like other flavors much more
That's fair: if you're looking for lots of spiciness, for example, British food is not going to offer it. But the overall flavour profile of British food has so many overlaps with American (our Christmas dinner is basically next door to your Thanksgiving lunch) that it always surprises me how dim its reputation is here.

And if I fly in march for when my universal trip is next year instead of driving, it’s between 500 and 700 round trip.
It’s ridiculously expensive to go out of Newark. I can’t sit in a regular coach seat with my back issues. If I do, I won’t be able to walk when I get there so I do have to upgrade my seat and it’s a disgusting amount of money so I usually do tons of research and keep watching prices.

New York Area Airport (EWR, LGA, JFK) to MCO Non-Stop Standard Economy No Checked Bag per person.

Low Cost Carrier - Spirit, Frontier <$200 Round Trip
South West $200-$300 (With connections)
Legacy Carrier - United, Delta, American, Jet Blue $200-400 Round Trip
Expanding to look at Westchester or AC can also give you some pretty good deals/options, without the expenses of going to he city airports.
