I came across this thread a few years ago, and this must be the third time I've read through it.

The confused, live, misinformed, scared, saddened, and tragic comments capture the fateful events 23 years ago and their lingering effects more effectively, and in my opinion, more powerfully than well-crafted speeches, articles, or documentaries shown in schools each September 11th.

The thread is a humbling experience and a crucial reminder of what it means to be an American, especially amidst the present division.

Never forget.

Yesterday I posted a remembrance paragraph on a local app and was amazed to discover that another local man was killed on 9/11 , Simon Turner. There were. 69 British fatalities that day and 2 of them Originally lived less than 1 mile apart. Unbelievable. RIP.

9/11 was seared into our memories. One annoying item that didn’t stop for weeks was when my family up North kept getting phone calls daily immediately after the terrorist attacks from the media. Media was asking feedback comments and memories on the ones in their neighborhood who perished.

At the school I teach at our librarian led a presentation for all our Social Studies classes today. She used a program through the 9/11 museum. The video they put out was wonderful for students and there was a live chat with people from the museum as well. Our librarian also put out newspaper from the time it happened, a memorial quilt our students made at the time, and a few other interactive displays. I talked to the students later today, after they had some time to process and the comments they made were really deep and thoughtful (7th graders). It just blows my mind that these students weren't alive for this (although logically I know that) because it seems like it just happened. How fast our precious time flies by. Also, as I looked around the room I realized that two of my students were children of some of my students from 2001.
