I really think they should put an UP ride here, next to tropical americas, takes place there anyway, and would free up the area of the bird show for future expansion
Only issue is a flight simulator of sorts seems like it's the best use of ride technology for this IP, and Avatar FoP exists in the same park. With that said, if they could come up with a cool idea - it'd be such a good fit.

I'd bet the vast majority of guests wouldn't notice a difference between the skipper controlling the throttle on the boats and it being done automatically.
Death by a thousand cuts.
I'm sure Walt realized an automated system would work "better" than a skipper controlling the throttle.
But they chose not to go that route.
Because little things mattered.

Then why stop there? Automate the spiel too...like the Living With The land boats.... and then maybe add some screens to the Temple float-through.... Maybe each screen featuring a clip from a popular Disney cartoon.... Or even better a marketing message.... We can really get this ride into a position where it generates some profit! lol

Why do you always blow things up to extreme takes to make other peoples opinions look extreme? Why did Walt have a track put into JC when the skippers could just steer? Practicality, just like automatic the throttle would do.

As to why he didn't automate the throttle in 1955... I assume the technology just wasn't there yet. Unless someone can point me to a water based attraction from that time that used multiple vehicles and didn't just have the vehicles bump into each other (like pirates, small world, ect).

Anyway we are WAAAAAAAY off topic

He certainly COULD have made Jungle Cruise a water ride where the boats bump into each other flume like.
But he didn't.
He used real boats.
And when you chip away at this stuff, a bit here and a bit there you lose the charm.
Hey, we don't need submarines.
We don't need a steamboat.
Do we really need that monorail?
Do we need a train?

Are you trying to link the removal of the subs in 1996 to the removal of the steamboat in 2025? (My son is older for the closing of the Liberty Belle than I was when the subs closed)

I'm saying you need to take each decision independently, its not a "slippery slope" that some people like to make it out to be. Each decision is made regardless of decisions made in the past.

We will never really know the reason JC was designed for the skippers to control the speed of the boat (well someone knows, but I don't). I personally doubt it had to do with the "realism" or "Authenticity" of an attraction when those same skippers pretend to steer.

A suspended dark ride could work really well too
kind of like the old ET Ride at universal but each vehicle being suspended by Balloons instead of bikes.... With some great show scenes and flying sequences.... Like the old If You Had Wings ride...It could be pretty amazing.....
So, the original idea of Living with the Land then?

Have they stated what they will be doing with the cast molds of the Olden Gate and SUE? Are their plans for them to be donated to any of the Florida museums since they were original cast molds?

Haven’t heard anything, although the casts from the original exhibition in the park comprise much of the DinoDigs exhibit at OSC. Maybe they’ll turn up…?

What I find interesting is the Brachiosaurous mold as it was copied quite a bit....Besides just for the Olden Gate at AK..

One of the original molds used to be inside the main lobby of the Field museum before they made a cast and placed it outside..

However it was removed In the mid 2010's as the metal structure was rusted due to our wonderful Chicagoland weather..

The only one left now is the one on display in the United Terminal here at O'hare..Which was the same cast mold used for Olden Gate at AK
