Moana replacing Jungle Cruise in 3…2…1…
I prefer to continue building up Animal Kingdom. I would be worried about replacing Jungle Cruise if they ventured out to MK.

Popularity, GSATs, culture and monetization are all important factors that help keep attractions in the current corporate climate.

Jungle Cruise is passing all four at Magic Kingdom generally well. It remaining a tier one attraction that tends to sell out LL since its refurb. Doesn’t make it immune to messing around with, but I’d be pretty surprised if they wholesale rip it out.

Tokyo and Hong Kong are different matters as they run into space constraints.

I have this vision of Disney looking at the cost to run Jungle Cruise, the training, the amount of CM's, and it certainly makes you wonder if they consider it...

I personally feel like a big refurb of the boats would do well.

New boats could:
1) be automated so the skipper doesn't actually have to control the throttle
2) have rows of seats like pirates or small world for faster loading/unloading

I also would consider eating some of the area behind the treehouse to create a double load and double unload station.

The main part of the ride could be identical, but boosting the efficiency would be nice for everyone

They didn't hesitate to get rid of Great Movie Ride which had similar concerns.
To add to that GMR was likely cheaper to run than Jungle Cruise as well. In its later years I can't imagine GMR needed more than two sets of ride vehicles running at a time, so thats 4 cast members, plus the one at the loading/unloading station on console and 1 handling entry/exit. Even if we say 3 sets of cars, that only takes it up to 6 cast members.

Jungle Cruise seems to have way more staff than it even needs at this point. The unload area consistently seems to have at least 5 cast members seemingly just hanging around talking. Plus boats, theres about 15 IIRC but most days will have around 8-10 running. So at minimum if you add load/unload, and queue attendant (at least 1, they handle directing and loading ECV guests) you're looking at probably 20 people on an average day, 25-30 on a busy day.

Thinking of it that way I'm surprised it's still running in it's current form given the current managements desire to penny pinch.

Just curious... why not?

I think the only difference to the end user experience would be
1) facing forward
2) shorter lines
it would be a lot bigger than that as far as guest changes... It would essentially ruin the feel and style of the attraction. Completely... Why not just replace the boats with an omnimover track....lol

Exactly.
It'd kill the realism.
We are increasingly losing things like this for more synthetic feeling experiences.

I'd bet the vast majority of guests wouldn't notice a difference between the skipper controlling the throttle on the boats and it being done automatically.

Disney would never do it... but in theory the seas pavilion could fit into that space at the base of everest. View attachment 881043
If they reroute the canal alongside Everest and relocate services facilities, they can fit a 5 acre land there. It could be an indoor land (like Mermaid Lagoon at Tokyo DisneySea, but larger) that creates an undersea environment (starring Nemo). It could have an enhanced Crush's Coaster as the anchor E-ticket.

Theatre in the Wild very clearly exists in a transitional space. Yes, it may occasionally be lumped in with a land on a park map, but it was never designed to be specific to a “land”. It is simply Animal Kingdom’s indoor performance space. I think some of you are looking way too much into this.

I agree with your point overall, but Disney doesn't help with the reused outfits and trying to cook up an explanation for how it fits Diggs County.

Maybe they can scrounge behind the couch cushions and find the cash for Theater in the Wild-specific outfits this time.

Would be a bit redundant if Nemo stays in the Living Seas, though I do like the idea of using this space for something.
