DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

It is a shame that DAK doesn't have a Rivers Of Light replacement in development and ready to roll out when they close Dinosaur... Seems like they have never quite been able to figure out how to do a night entertainment there after the dismal failure of ROL. It seemed like they were on to something....then the show devolved into another lackluster "film clips on water screens" production that even had kids yawning. They need to add show scenes and make the river an attraction.... Dredge out the lake, concrete the bottom and recreate the system they use for World Of Color... Bring back daily parades... The park is beautiful but really needs something.....
Never understood why they haven't used drones for nighttime shows in this park.

There is 100% a way to make a Zootopia attraction about natural animals then
Except can you really imagine either of the leads naked? After all, the bugs weren't wearing clothes in the movie or the attraction. I think that wouldn't work for Zootopia (in fact the poster shows them wearing clothes so the point is moot). One was about bugs. The other features humans disguised as animals.

I don't see how that restricts having a show about real animals? Real bugs don't have talent shows either.

You can have made almost the same show where various animals "came onstage" to show their unique talents. Could have featured things like a cheetahs speed, platypus... being a platypus, echolocation, hibernation, super hearing, gliding, armored skin, etc etc. The list goes on

Because it would stress out all the animals in the area. Same reason they don't do fireworks.
I really don’t think that’s it. Plenty of drone shows at zoos across the country.

They are in a weird spot right now. To have a nighttime show at Animal Kingdom, they need operating hours that mimic DHS and Epcot, which normally close at 9 pm daily.

In the summer time, AK closes at 6 pm. During the busiest stretch, it’s 8 pm but we are talking a handful of dates in Nov and Dec at this point. They are comfortable with ToL Awakenings which is a seasonal show during that stretch.

There isn’t enough to do at AK at dark. Safari closes, all the shows wrap up before dinner-it’s just a park built for the day.

Hopefully Tropical Americas spawns the need for longer hours. I’m not convinced but I’m hopeful. It’s our next chance at it.

Except, again, it'd look pretty silly to have him running in clothes. We already know they are going for the animals-who-are-humans look rather than anything authentic. Unless they aren't going to use the characters from the movie and substitute real animals. In this IP driven world, ain't a chance in the world.

I think we should move this to the Zootopia thread, click on my name below (the quoted post contains comments from Imagineers and a show description):
Moving this to the correct thread:

Can't say that will be exactly that but...

I want to ask, seeing as DINOSAUR is closing soon, are we maybe going to get a news event about Tropical Americas soon with the announcement of when DINOSAUR is closing? Because if the rumors are true and that it is closing early 2026, then we need to get a closing date sooner rather than later

Maybe after Boneyard closes this weekend? If they're really taking it down in January that gives people 3-4 months to get their last rides in.

I feel like they usually don't mention closure dates of things at D23 but could see something come out next week with a TA update (the concept art, etc) and the closure date for Dinosaur

The park just doesn’t have enough to warrant staying open past 6 or 7. They need to add about 6 rides and a nighttime show to really flesh out this park. It is definitely still a half day park…and this is coming from someone who does all the animal trails, Planet Watch, and all the rides and shows.

It doesn't stop them from keeping DHS open later, despite also being a half day park. Obviously DHS has Fantasmic, but DAK could have a night show as well if Disney was interested in running one.

It will be especially hard to justify not keeping DAK open later once Indy and Encanto are open, but I assume they will at that point.
