Current Crowd Levels & Visitor Origins

Lived in both states, have you ?

The OP's request was to please keep this thread from becoming political.

It would also be helpful to veer back on topic, unless you are saying a higher % of WDW's visitors come from NC than CT during hockey playoffs.

I would imagine sports' playoffs do have some impact on when/if people travel.

There were growing concerns that Disney was getting too expensive.

The dining plan change was probably in the works before all of the more recent events.
You are probably right. I am sure some are not coming due to political rhetoric but I would bet it's very minimal.

We have been visiting for over 25 years. It is now more expensive to go for the two of us than it was when we first visited with a family of four.

We (the two of us) are visiting later this year because of the 30% off rooms deal. However, even that is pretty high priced. Along with that and all the changes (many of my favorites are gone) and future changes (c'mon taking rivers of America out, dumb) this may be our last trip.

It's unreal how Americans in this thread continue to minimize or deny the fact that any current/near future drops in Canadian visitors has little to do with "political rhetoric". What don't you understand about this? You don't live here, so please don't assume that you know how people from this country feel about this. Again, not everyone that is cancelling trips to the US from Canada is doing it because of the political situation, but it is the majority, even if it's not a large majority. This is already having an effect on a lot of American border towns and the businesses that depend on Canadian tourists, and once this fall hits, tourist areas in the southern US are going to really start feeling it too. A year from now, when there is a significant amount of data accrued on this, maybe Americans will finally get it.

Some are waiting for those snowbird domiciles to be put on the market. As a group, Canadians represent 2% (2024 number) of the visitors to Florida.

In 23’ Canadians spent $131B in Florida - that’s billions.

I get it...I just don't care. And I am saying this as someone who is originally from Canada.

I now see the disconnect, you are viewing this purely from a political perspective, I’m simply viewing it from a people who benefit from each other perspective, that’s why I say they need to be careful where they direct their hostility, keep it towards Washington and they’ll likely get sympathy from most Americans, when they start directing it at citizens “we’ll boycott and make you suffer” there is a huge chance they’re going to infuriate a lot of regular people and get a boycott directed right back at them.

No one’s annexing one inch of Canada, unless Alberta and Saskatchewan ask us too 😉, an uninvited attempt would never fly with 90% of the US public.
As one guy said to the other guy, - I checked with the owners , Never.

This quarter will be more telling.
I think a year from now when we see the numbers from Q4 this year and Q1 next year, those will be the most telling. This all started in the middle of the winter tourist season this year, so the impact of that wasn't really felt until the end of Q1. I would assume that the majority of Canadians visit Florida in the fall/winter, so those 2 quarters should show a significant drop in Canadian visitors if the trend continues.
