That is one of the things that is so tragic about the loss of the Muppets 3D in DHS. It was one of the last projects that Jim Henson created before his death. Sadly, Disney has no respect for historic creations with a "we'll never see that type of quality again" reputation. Probably lost forever in a large building or taped over like so many other things that Disney archives.I remembered Jim's death. I was a kid when he died in 1990 and It was shock a for me at the time.
Muppet Babies was one of the shows my younger brother and I watched on Saturday morning cartoons. Before Jim's death, I remembered watching some of the Muppet Movies on tv also.
Muppets hasn’t gone away. Goodbye Aerosmith hello Kermit and friends at the end of Sunset Blvd in the future !That is one of the things that is so tragic about the loss of the Muppets 3D in DHS. Sent you an important PM about itApparently a tornado touched down in a neighborhood a good 25-30 minutes away from me. Woo.
Henson passing was a big loss. I read briefly his bio. He delayed going to the ER by a few hours and the docs say if he was rushed to the ER sooner he could still be alive. He didn't say the Muppets leaving DHS, but one of the last projects Jim Henson worked on is leaving DHS.
That Muppet coaster concept didn't exist when Jim was alive and means he has nothing to do with the project.
There are people that are not happy with Disney getting a ride of Muppet Vision 3d from DHS from a historic value standpoint considering it was the only Disney theme park attraction that Jim Henson himself was involved.
Jim Henson was a very important person in the Entertainment Industry considering he was responsible for Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Muppet Franchise. and his movies.
I went to the magi kingdom tonight. We did the jungle cruise the tiki room dumbo and then we went to the Polynesian got dole whip and watched the fireworks from there.I'm in Disneyland and will be ignoring your nonsense.![]()
Alright well I just got back from epic universe so I guess I’m going to start posting my review. I’ll do one land per post. Starting with celestial park I don’t have a whole lot to say here except that it was really disappointingly bland. It gets a little better at night but I don’t know it lacks charm in the outdoor spaces IMO. On the positive side the stores I visited (the Nintendo store. The Christmas store. And the sweets shop) were all really cute. Specifically I liked how they had a cute bear as the mascot for the candy store. In addition the cronos looks amazing at night and actually sends 4 beams of light into the sky. One for each of the 4 lands.
Alright time for land number two! Super Nintendo world! First up you’re going to hear this a lot from me but the portal design amazing. IMO this one jives the best with the rest of celestial park. I had a lot of time to look at this one before entering it while we waited for it to open. The pipe transition. Also amazing. View attachment 856391Okay. This right here. One of the most amazing moments in theme park design to date. Walking into this land is overstimulation in the best way possible. It’s covered top to bottom in theme and details that make the land I’m just gonna say it one of the best in Orlando. Seriously this might be better than Harry Potter world. Stopping to talk about toads cafe for a minute we didn’t end up eating there(thanks anyway @Andrew25 !) or even enter the main dining room but we did go into the lobby and I really liked it. I can’t think of a previous restaurant where there was a preshow for a meal. Next up was the yoshi ride and I didn’t see the problems everyone has with it at all. It’s really cute and there’s a lot of captain toad references and even an appearance from the mushroom himself.(seriously I’m a huge fan) one critique I did have that could be fixed with ease is the fact that you can’t hear toadette because of the music being too loud. (If someone from universal creative is reading please fix this.) moving on to Mario kart: bowsers challenge I have no notes. A very fun cute ride with a system that works just fine and a queue that really makes you feel like you’ve entered bowser’s castle. 10 out of 10. I have no notes. Moving into the donkey Kong section I really like the transition here. Using the jungle music from super Mario 3d world combined with the pyramids from the desert theme creates a really good in between area. The donkey Kong sub-section is as well themed overall as the Mario one . There’s some sighline issues with the coaster track and I don’t think the jump the tracks effect works very well from the ground. (It doesn’t take much looking to see the arm holding up the mine cart on the other side when it “jumps”) But overall I think Super Nintendo world is a amazing land that will be the most popular when the park actually opens and will have the biggest effect on Disney if you want to look at the park from that standpoint. Honestly in terms of pure Atmosphere I thought it was the best land in the whole park.
Land number 3! Dark universe! Okay so I think this is the land that I have the most mixed opinions on. Positives first. The entrance is amazing and is a perfect example of visual storytelling. You walk in and are immediately greeted with the entrance to the catacombs which end up playing a large part in monsters unchained. It’s also hinted at that something ominous is going on down there. Then you walk past a photo op in a coffin and enter the village of darkmoor. It’s very well themed and absolutely nails the vibe. Something else I want to mention is the characters. They roam the land like the characters in galaxies edge in Hollywood studios. The highlight is Igor. I absolutely love his character and he is a ton of fun. Be sure to ask him what’s in his bag. Moving on to a few negatives it’s the land that feels the smallest. I think the village could be bigger and needs another store. The burning blade tavern is amazing and the effect is better than the dragon in diagon alley. The problem is it’s located so far in the back that I have to imagine when the park opens there will be people who won’t even know it’s there. I think it should have been located on the edge of the village closer to the plot of the werewolf coaster. It would have been more centrally located and would have helped to fill out the village. On the flip side of that it being located far away helped create a really cool story moment that I won’t spoil for anyone. Onto the werewolf coaster itself it’s a very fun ride with a interesting “spin” (see what I did there?) on a ride system we’ve seen before. My only problem is a scene at the end that feels very much like it was bought at spirit Halloween.
Warning! Spoilers for monsters unchained! It is recommended by dr. Victoria Frankenstein that any who have not yet participated in her experiments not click this button! Those who do not heed this warning may suffer greatly!okay I am now going to review monsters unchained. Starting in the queue it is amazing. Lots of details sets up the story very well. The preshow. Also amazing with the first of multiple very impressive audio-animatronics. Then you go into the catacombs which are very creepy. Side note: what happened to the scare actors that were supposed to be in the queue? I’m not even upset they weren’t there. Truth be told I’m kinda glad because I’m kinda of a wuss when it comes to this sort of thing. I’m just curious. The ride itself is overall amazing. It starts with Dracula escaping containment and freeing all the monsters and his brides from dr. Victoria Frankensteins various traps and other methods of containment. From here it’s kind of a who’s who of famous monsters attacking you. The coolest parts are when the werewolf and Dracula chase you through the ride via a mixture of screens and animatronics. Now the ride does end kinda weirdly. Basically there’s a whole system set up that reflects sunlight from above onto the vampires and the second half of the ride is Victoria the new Frankensteins monster and Igor trying to get the system to work.problem is Dracula is destroyed via screen and I don’t know it feels like that should be a bigger moment and to top it off it doesn’t really fell like the story is over when you get off. All the other monsters are still running around the catacombs and then the last scene is poor Igor getting eaten alive by batsso to summarize it’s a great ride with lots of impressive animatronics but the ending is isn’t very satisfying and again the story doesn’t feel like it’s over.
You’re welcome. I didn’t do a review of Harry Potter or how to train your dragon because I did not experience any attractions in those lands.Thank you
Yes, I'm aware that they have other plans for them, but I'm pretty sure that Jim Hanson isn't part of the creative team for whatever new plan they might have for his creation. That's the part I'm talking about. That show was great but, it is now gone and I don't see any scenario where it returns. That is where the loss is for all of us. Of course I could be wrong. They did manage to revive the Lion King show when they moved that to someplace else, but this is a little different than that show is. I don't expect to ever see it again and since it is 3D it's not likely to be on TV anytime soon either.Muppets hasn’t gone away. I agree with this overall but separating the muppet vision closing from it I think the rock and roller coaster overlay could very well be be better Then what we have now.Yes, I'm aware that they have other plans for them, but I'm pretty sure that Jim Hanson isn't part of the creative team for whatever new plan they might have for his creation. On top of that moving them to a teen and adult attraction like RnRC is going to eliminate younger kids from a franchise that they loved. That alone is something that annoys me.
MGM is losing something family friendlyI agree with this overall but separating the muppet vision closing from it I think the rock and roller coaster overlay could very well be be better Then what we have now.
Indeed. It's a poor replacement. A few minutes of preshow replacing a full theatre showMGM is losing something family friendly![]()
They desperately needed something family friendly too.MGM is losing something family friendly![]()
