Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Another Disney question... with the promotion of free water parks on your resort check-in day, which water park do you prefer? Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? I think we'll try to hit one, maybe both if we can. We technically have three check-in days, but we won't have enough time on our arrival day.

Also, I believe we've narrowed down our choice to San Angel Inn, or giving The Boathouse another try without covid and being soaking wet. I gave my dad the task of looking and menus and deciding.
The theming is better at Typhoon Lagoon, and I LOVE the big wave pool there. That said, I also like Blizzard Beach, and it's usually a bit less crowded than Typhoon. The Downhill Double Dipper is fun, the lazy river around the park is relaxing, and the enclosed tube ride at Runoff Rapids is a blast. (I haven't done the Slush ride, because I didn't want to do it as a solo -- it looks really scary! Same for Summit Plummit -- NO)! :p

Heck, I didn't even know BB had a wave pool.

I think we decided on San Angel for our second dining reservation, since we will already be making a trip to DS for Homecomin'. And I think we settled on Typhoon Lagoon as our priority waterpark, but may also do Blizzard Beach if we have time. Thanks for all the feedback!

We're also going to try to get Beaches and Cream. We ate there year ago before the remodel and have been thinking about going back for the past several years.

Typhoon all day. Crush ‘n Gusher, Humunga Kowabunga, and the wave pool rock! I also prefer a lazy river where I don’t have to traverse an icy cave. 😬

For some reason, I was under the impression that they are currently only opening one water park at a time. We didn't go to a water park on our last trip because only Typhoon Lagoon was open, and we prefer Blizzard Beach. We like the food options there better and we just had a much better experience there overall. But what I heard was that they didn't have enough staff for both parks, so they open one for a few months, then open the other. But maybe that's over now?

Oh nice!! I'm glad they can finally do that! We were really disappointed that BB was closed when we were there, but the biggest reason we wanted to go there was to get the mac n cheese hotdog, which we were able to get at Casey's I think? But our tickets from the European Disney sites are Ultimate tickets, which include the water parks....they are park hoppers that also allow entry each day into a water park. The first time we got these tickets was in 2016, and we went to TL because we wanted to do the Shark Reef thing, which everything said it was free. We were all excited, then we got there and it was 20 bucks per person according to the sign. And then we got fish and chips for lunch and one of those Ibis birds landed on our table and stole A's fish right off his plate. There was nothing that the kids wanted to do there. So we called it quits and left after lunch. Then we went to BB and they rode a couple of the slides, and went down the lazy river, got hot dogs....they loved it. So that one's our favorite. I mostly go sit in a lounge chair and read and maybe float on the lazy river for a while, but I can relax in a pool floaty or on a beach chair just as easily at the hotel pool, so I don't need to go to a water park at all. My niece is a total water baby and she'd probably spend every day at a waterpark or in the pool if you let her. She doesn't need the parks. So we went to BB in 2019 and she loved it. But when E and I went in 2023, we just skipped the waterparks even though they are included in our tickets.

Shark Reef used to be free at one point, for sure. I got all geared up, stuck my toe in that 50-something degree water, and noped right out of there.

One of my boys, Ski I believe, did it time after time after time. Maybe a dozen or more in an afternoon. I most assuredly did not pay. 😂

Yeah, everything I had read said it was free. That's the entire reason we went there really. And then there was this big sign there saying it was $20 per person, which is a pretty massive change! And there were 4 of us, so 80 bucks that we hadn't budgeted. I asked when we were leaving the park when they started charging for it and the CM said "I think we've ALWAYS charged for it." I thought maybe I had made a mistake and went back to read my guide books and such and everything said it was free. So I don't know what that CM was smoking.

We did it once just to say we did it. I spent a bit of time on a lounge chair in the sun afterwards, maybe with a glass of wine

Disney has been doing the one park open while the other is closed thing so beware of that @PUSH I hit reply under the wrong person.
