presumably that the jack sparrow era of PotC is over, and the Davy Jones cameo at the end of DMTNT will be relegated to the scrap bin alongside whatever happened to Angelica after being marooned on a desert island.

Well, at Disneyland it was removed to install a new scene and restore original dialogue that had been removed originally for it. It was not an original element from the WDW version and it also never made much sense being there to begin with. The only reason it existed was to promote the POTC film franchise.

My bad, I was misremembering what the effect was. For some reason I remembered a section of the cavern with running water.
If this was for the Davy Jones projection- then I’m kinda glad it’s gone. I don’t like the movie stuff in the ride. If it were just a cameo from Jack it’d be fine but I don’t like that everyone is talking about him

God the Paris version is so good. I was blown away when I went on my honeymoon last September. Eating dinner at Captain Jack’s and watching the boats go by and then going on the ride right after was fantastic, and the ride itself was just a perfected version of the original. Their Redd looked better too imo, she fit the vibe of the original animatronics- more limited and more cartoony.
Also the ride was a walk on (as was Phantom Manor, and everything else minus Peter Pan was 15 minutes and under for a wait), which is crazy. I think Paris might have ruined WDW crowds for me, because I now know what it’s like to not stress at a theme park and take my time to explore because the lines are so short I don’t have to worry about missing anything
It would be kind of odd to bring Pirates down with the lounge having been opened for only a couple of months.

The running waterfalls are separate effects that still run. And I think we’re going to have to agree to disagree here. Maybe I’m biased because I was in love with the pirates movies when I was younger and I still really like them now but I like the jack sparrow stuff. But see this in the event they do decide to get rid of the movie stuff.
