Unpopular Disney world opinions

Have you actually been to any non-Disney parks? While I can understand someone loving AK over all the other Disney parks, especially if they are really into animals.... I don't think I could ever see it topping a list of all parks in the world, or even all in the US... Then again, AK remains the one we will often skip or only bother with wasting a half day on.

Lol, yes I've been to many. Both US Busch Garden parks. Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, Hershey Park, and so on. Both Universal parks of course, as well as SeaWorld Orlando. Disneyland & DCA of course. Some others I'm probably forgetting. Cedar Point which I mentioned.

Now, with you saying you can't see DAK topping a list of parks in the world, that was never mentioned. But I did say it was the best park in Orlando and the second best in the US. Which I stand by. A lot of those regional parks are great for what they are but they really aren't on the same level as a Disney or Universal park and they are priced accordingly.

And as I said, I think DAK is better than the other Orlando parks on a fundamental level, its design, its lands, theming, storytelling, all of it. So much to explore and so much depth to what's there. And compared to DHS, it has fewer rides but still more attractions (DHS being the park that I invariably skip). But I digress. I do like animals a lot but I don't think that's making me biased, as my family members also praise the park and they like animals a fairly average amount.

I like Journey Into Imagination With Figment. And I think it is fine, just the way it is.
I agree with you on this. Should they have ever removed the original? No. Do I think they should bring Dreamfinder back? Absolutely. But I do enjoy Journey Into Imagination With Figment. It's a charming ride.

I will go one further on this. I would also claim the original was the most overrated attraction. I have posted this multiple times. As a kid from the 80’s who remembers the original well, I would claim it was dark, cold, and terrifying. I have a hard time trying to argue this with people who only seen it though youtube. I just don’t understand the passion for it.

-In fact, the small world haters are weird for hating so hard on an attraction whose message is "we are all human and should respect each other's cultures."
I actually fully understand why you feel this way. I will say though I think I just find our Small World kinda boring. I thought I had an issue with Small World but then I rode the one over at Tokyo Disneyland and I was absolutely in love with that one (even the Groot overlay was cute and charming). Maybe it's the "Place vs Place, Japan" effect but I really do think theirs is better than ours lol

I thought it was amazing as a kid! Easily a top 5 ride at WDW for me (with Image Works as the cherry on top, which was also awesome for someone under 10).

I think I liked Spaceship Earth and Horizons more, but still absolutely loved Imagination.

Disney food on average is an adventure to people who consider Chili’s to be exotic.

If you live in an even relatively medium-sized city and eat outside your own culture, places that are always hyped by Disney food influencers like Sanaa or Ohana aren't going to be mind-blowing.

I don't think that's even an unpopular opinion. Are there that many people who think the food at Disney is anything special (outside of Victoria & Albert's)?

A place like Flying Fish (which is the best meal I've had at a "normal" Disney restaurant) would still be a very good restaurant here in Atlanta, but it wouldn't be top of the line like it is at WDW.

💯

I'm trolling a little (lot) when I say this, but AK is just a zoo. If you are really into animals, you would be better off going to one of the dozen or more world-class zoos we have around the U.S. (I was a Dallas and Fort Worth Zoo season pass holder for years)

We skip (or half-day) AK on most visits. It's fun sure, but it has to compete with Universal Studios and the other WDW Parks.

I've always said this. The Bronx Zoo blows away AK as far as animal viewing. And you will probably see some two-legged animals on the ride there also.

I'll go one further and say that the Savanna View rooms are a real snoozefest. The animals are very far away and they rarely do anything as interesting as you will see people do from a Boardwalk View room.

Yep, we stayed at the AKL because we were hoodwinked by the marketing material that showed guests could easily see animals from their rooms... Yeah, we were able to watch some animals if we got up real early in the morning when they let the animals out of their pens for the day... but they quickly went far away from the lodge so that you couldn't see them until they were herded back in the evening to be put up for the night. According to the staff we asked, the animals went off to some area that offered more shade to keep them cool. Needless to say we crossed that resort off out list for future trips. Maybe I'm just old fashioned but when I'm paying that much for a room I expect someone to be out their with cattle prods making sure the animals stay where the guests can see them.

The Safari is different/better than what you can do at almost any great zoo around the country, and more importantly, it offers a lot of other things that zoos don't offer. It wouldn't make any sense to go to Animal Kingdom if all you wanted to do was see animals, though, because there are really nice zoos that offer significantly more (despite the lack of something like the safari). It's the combination of that along with the elaborate theming and other attractions that make AK so good.

Of course people like different things, but to me Animal Kingdom is far better than USF or Islands of Adventure right now.

IMO the Safari was much better when it had the poaching storyline.

As good as AK is, IMO Silver Dollar City is much better.

I thought removing the poaching storyline was a mistake when I heard about it, but I think it actually made the experience much better. The animals themselves are more interesting than anything else, and when the poaching storyline was still there it was the focus and the animals felt like set dressing. Now you get to focus on them.

Yes, to be honest, the poaching storyline always felt a bit cheesy and unnecessary to me. It didn't really make sense to try and get people emotionally invested in a fake animal when the bulk of the ride involved looking at all these impressive live animals. I understand why they did it, but adding a fake poaching storyline kind of suggested they didn't think the real animals were interesting enough and the removal of that storyline was a classic case of less being more.

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Ratatouille is too tame and a bit boring.

Dinosaur and Bugs should not be replaced. AK should have gotten those attractions as additions.

Festival of the Lion King is my least favorite stage show.

The shortened Nemo show is stupid and we lost the best elements of the show when it was cut.

Hollywood Studios should have stayed themed to making movies to make it not universal studios-esque.

I wish Disney was still creative enough to make original attractions with original characters/plots like Cranium Command, Haunted Mansion, and Imagination.

Guardians doesnt fit in Epcot.

Cars doesnt fit in Magic Kingdom.

I wish Lucasfilm had its own theme park (Im not big on Lucasfilm movies so I kinda wish it had its own park so I can ignore it)

Star Tours is worse than Mission Space

Tron is ugly and too short

Monsters Inc Land going where it is is insanely stupid

I wish we had more/new animatronic shows. I love AA shows.

Its a Small World should move to Epcot and the new version should be insanely grand

I hate Indiana Jones as an IP in AK

They should could rid of the TTC and pave the lagoon into a parking lot because leaving the park at night if you drive is insane.

The skyway is tacky.

Disney Springs is outside of my tax bracket and deemed worthless to me now

Every other Disney resort around the world is better than WDW

This is Disney parks in general but they should really stop announcing stuff too early. I know a part of it is for fans to plan trips around those announcement but its just giving people too much of an expectation. By doing this, it will also lessen the influencers and vloggers from having content, whether good or bad.

The theming is top-notch. That giant (fake) tree in the park is a sight to behold. The Avatar movie zone is very memorable as well.

Lots of parks and zoos do have safari-like attractions. The Dallas Zoo has a super cool monorail that goes through the animal zones—almost as cool as the AK Safari. It is certainly unique. Sharkarosa has a robust Safari as well (but the animals are not all that exotic). That said, they have a Cobra show that will wake you right up. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center has a massive 7+ mile animal safari with moderately exotic animals and nice trucks. I just realized I am a bit of a controlled safari connoisseur. I will say tho, AK's is slightly better than all of them. My whole point isn't that AK sucks, not at all, but that it isn't in a class of its own. All of the other WDW parks are better, as are Uni parks. ...not water parks, those don't count.

So, if anybody is ever in Texas, I have rated some of the Safari Zoos/Parks around here. You can use the AK ranking as a reference point. ...my opinion, of course, your experience may vary.
