Honestly… maybe we can have a whistles thread? I’m a full on foamer and this is getting to be a bit much in every thread lol.
Maybe this one? Chit chat seems right for speculation and history

Going over the original concept art for the locomotives. Here’s Walter’s

Everything pretty much stayed the same except for the smokestack and the sanders.

Woah! Looking at the concept art logo, I think Walter should have the chrome yellow pinstriping on his final concept logo and headlamp that matches the pinstriping on his cylinder and would also explain the chrome yellow wrapping the brown stripe on his tender wing originally from 1974 to 2016.

Okay, I am very annoyed with someone commenting on this new video that Walter's new Baldwin whistle is a 5 chime:

FYI, Baldwin never made manufactured 5 chime whistles whatsoever! It's a Baldwin 5-inch diameter 3 chime whistle! This annoying mouth-running user needs to get his words correct! 😠

Was watching a recent video of the WDWRR and saw something in Walter’s cab that somewhat puzzled me, but put a huge smile on my face.

The Dixon Boiler Works builder’s plate lives on!

The middle plate says “FL” something, which I assume relates to the state’s boiler code/inspection, and the bottom plate says “ALTERED BY STRASBURG RAIL” shop or road.

To make sure it isn’t just Walter, I checked Lilly & Roger and they have the same 3 plates too. What puzzles me is that while the boiler is no longer Dixon, they kept the Dixon plate. Maybe there are some Dixon components that remained?

Regardless, it puts a smile on my face and I’m glad the plates still exist in the cabs!

Looks like Strasburg is hiring. This employment ad is in the current Trains magazine. I wonder how this will effect the overhaul timeline?

Tangential subject, I read the Ward Kimball from Disneyland is out for its refurbishment as well. Anyone have an ETA and where they sent it?

Didn’t hear about Kimball going down for a overhaul, but my God it desperately needs it. Worst running locomotive of the 5. My guess is that it got sent to the same place that did Ripley, which I can’t recall at the moment.

I don’t think they were using it much I can’t recall the last time I saw it
