Glad you made it home safely. As for the plows' conga line, I always like those -- when you ride behind them, you have a clear road, versus all the cars that come up 1/2 hour later, on those same stretches. My state (and Maine) do 2-3 plows on the interstates.
366 this year was a leap year.
I got caught in one of those on a 6 lane section of the New Jersey Turnpike in 1982. At least I think it was there, it was hard to tell because I was pretty busy watching cars and highway to be sure, but I am sure it was in New Jersey. Make that one of the 999 reasons that eventually lead to my relocation a little further south.
Plow conga lines are pretty common up here. If you’re on a major highway for a long time during a snowfall, you’ll get stuck in a few of them.
It does get a little frustrating when you get behind one but it is much safer to stay there. I find it a very clever way to clear a highway quickly. One swipe and it is done. The only place where it might be worth trying to get around is between the first and second plow when the snow-wall is the smallest. I did get around one of them in Jersey that night but I scared myself half to death when I hit the small wall of snow. Never did it again. I just learned to have a little more patience. Better to arrive late than not arrive at all, is my motto now.
It’s illegal to pass them here. They will 100% box you out.
