Self made, definitely. I come from a family of 6 kids and living in upstate New York, vacations to WDW wern't exactly in the budget. We went for the first time when my daughter was 6. My husband had been once when he was a kid (Magic kingdom was the only park then), so it was like the first time...

I feel better reading these...I too have a Nigerian friend who will be depositing money in my account soon, but I have others who are making deposits as well. I get emails every day telling me.
But seriously, I too watch Suze Orman and feel so inferior, but We pay...
My first trip was when my daughter was 6...I was 33...Sad that I didn't go until I was an adult but so glad I did, it's amazing how you can become so addicted to a place...
I would stay in seperate rooms...Even the closest family knows that you need time by yourself. Not to mention what PP's have said about having only one bathroom.
On one of our visits to the World Showcase my daughter and I were alone because my husband was golfing. We came upon the World Showcase players and I stepped into the middle of the group so i would not be chosen to take part...well of course they chose me. My daughter has never laughed so hard...
I am the same way when it comes to the parks...I tear up when I see the opening at MK and cry when I walk up Main Street. It's one of the things my husband and daughter find hilarious about me when we're there. :ROFLOL:
I am loving the TR so far. Especially the comments about DH and the lack of photos from him. My husband still doesn't quite understand my desire to take photos (and we've been to WDW about 7 times). an't wait to read more:sohappy:
Yes the cost affects me to a point. Our trips are less frequent. But we always go during free dining in August. We live in New York and school doesn't start again until after Labor Day so it works out for us to go the week before. My daughter doesn't miss school, the parks are less crowded (even...
We went in September once and pulled my daughter out of school. After that trip she said she would never want to go and be pulled out of school again. Not because she doesn't want to miss school, but because she didn't feel like it was a complete vacation for her because she had to do an hours...
I'm not even sure where to start. It has taken me a little over a week to read the whole TR (I know, stupid job and household chores getting in the way). Here I sit on my couch tears streaming down my face. This TR has reminded me of so many things, my own wedding (17 years ago), my first trip...
I woud bring it...Our first trip my daughter was 6 and we rented one for the whole trip. It wasn't even a thought to NOT rent one. You will be doing an amazing amount of walking and will be so glad you have it...
With the exception of our first stay on property, we have always gone during free dining. For us it works. We like to end our summer with the Magic of Disney and it is less crowded at the end of August. We always go the week before Labor day, so when we come home we always still have a day or...
