Families of autistic kids sue Disney parks over policy on lines

"Are individuals unable to wait in a confined queue/space, or wait at all? Certainly the argument is being made for the later." Yes, that was one of the recurrent themes of the suit, as well as the fact that no further accommodations are offered for those that, unlike my son, still cannot be...

Families of autistic kids sue Disney parks over policy on lines

I just read the lawsuit, the parts that were interesting anyway, once you get past the citing of the various laws and the definitions of terms. And I have to say, they make some very good points, here are a few of the ones that stuck out for me (my summary of their wording): 1. Changing the...

Families of autistic kids sue Disney parks over policy on lines

I have an autistic child. I miss the GAC, but the DAS is workable, especially combined with FP+. It was much more difficult before FP+, but I knew that things would get easier for us when FP+ comes online fully, so I just waited it out. I have an older and now more easygoing child though...

Astro Orbiter refurbishment dates set for summer 2014

My son (with autism) has recently decided that AO is a "must do." He just loves it. I think its the lateral g's you get when the thing is lowering down at the end - it's quite a ride! I'm glad it's getting some love. Hopefully COP will be refurbed soon - that ride brings back so many...

Does anyone have inside knowledge on huge lines for Guest Relations?

I was leaving the park at around 1130 on Saturday and the GR lines were the longest I have ever seen, by far. They were stretched all the way out to bag check, I kid you not. And I go to GR regularly for our GAC/DAS, never in all the years I was going did I see a line like that. So I was...

Possible Changes coming to the Guest Assistance Cards (GAC)

This. I am one of those families with an autistic child that goes to Disney regularly because it is one of the VERY FEW places we can all enjoy as a family. We don't do museums, city festivals, special events like ICE at the Gaylord Palms, historic places, etc. He does not tolerate them...

question about the guest assistance card

Yes I realize that, but the OP had mentioned severe pain with both standing and walking, which is why I suggested the wheelchair.

    MK Easter Egg in VOTLM??

Thanks for the answers, that seems obvious now, not having been through the queue again we forgot about him being in there. At the time it was pretty strange! My daughter and I had some fun with it, I think I won't tell her.

    MK Easter Egg in VOTLM??

Went to the Passholder preview last night. VOTLM was pretty empty (maybe one out of 6 or 7 clams were being used) so I asked at the ride exit if we could stay on. The CM signaled to someone up ahead, it looked like she was getting permission, she said yes, and we stayed in our clam. When we...

question about the guest assistance card

If you have extreme pain standing or walking then you should rent a wheelchair. Skipping the lines will not help you, because even with a GAC you could wait 20 minutes or more. Plus you will have all that walking between the rides. You really would be a lot more comfortable using a wheelchair...

My guest assistance card didn't assist me much for some reason

If fastpasses are available you are suppose to use those instead of you GAC card. Now if they aren't available you can use the alternate entrance of that ride. That has never been told to us. If it was we would probably not be able to go to Disney much. My autistic son would have a fit if he...

Dreamfinder sends a letter to Orange Bird

I'll admit it, I wrote a reply, asking the Dreamfinder to come back. Begging, really.

Possible Changes coming to the Guest Assistance Cards (GAC)

Here's another GAC user here. I can say with fairly high confidence that my spouse would not have agreed to try disney without a GAC, and we would certainly not be passholders without it. We just got passes again last week after a 2+ year hiatus. My autistic son (14) pretty much ONLY likes...

    Any new thunder mountain info?

I am quite disappointed about the lack of falling rocks. My daughter and I used to have a lot of fun pretending to be terrified - pointing at the shaking rocks and hamming it up. One of our traditions. Hopefully there will be some sort of decent projector element to take their place.

    MK Why close Snow White?

This. Use the platform that's already there, make it into a continuous/fast loader, and give us a great ride themed after one of Disney's other great movies. Preferably one that has appeal to girls and boys alike. With all the FP attractions keeping people out of lines and therefore...
