Maybe those congregations should have done better before people, you know, bit it. But that would require intelligence.

I don't think it is fair to judge on that or "those" congregations because we don't know each individual one, they may have encouraged it, but to host the entire service as a vaccination clinic in his honor and last wish is something more than a lot of places are doing period. I say this so let's avoid going down the should have could have slope and be happy when we see good stories. There are plenty of churches of many religions who have supported vaccination and asked of it to be good neighbors to fellow global citizenship.

If your trip is less than 72 hours (like a weekend trip), you only need to get tested once.

As an atheist, I make my own decisions. I read the news. Churches were opening up, not requiring masks, and were proud of it, too. I’ll make a generalization about it.

Sadly, that’s a minority opinion based on what politicians were saying and tv talking heads and conspiracy Twitter accounts. And continue to!

re: Flying into Canada and then back to USA, I've edited my previous post to make it clearer.

If you get tested and your return flight is less than 72 hours after that test, you only need to do so once.

As of September 7th, the same rules apply to travellers from other countries, as long as they are fully vaxxed with one approved by the Canadian government (Pfizer, Moderna, J&J, AstraZeneca)

My trip is longer than a few days so we will need two tests. At least as the rules stand today. Thanks for the information.

I’m currently viewing this whole vaccination thing like I do parenting. Not only is bribery completely wrong, it’s also absolutely necessary.

Bribing can be wrong, and you are right it absolutely is necessary. I like calling it "sweetening the deal" Like my kid who hates needles... we offer a small incentive (ice cream, extra game time etc) if they don't raise a stink while getting vaccinated.

My last one was "you get the shot, we go to WDW with minute risk" - the easiest set of shots we ever did. Of course the kid knew the choice wasn't there anyway

And by tourism, I also include New Yorkers who are traveling more and bringing it home. Anyone traveling now for leisure gets an eyeroll from me. Not as good as an Emmy award but it’s a start.

Agreed. I don’t like traveling for work either (what I do is completely non-essential).

I have 2 leisure trips I want to take in August and September. Both are for one time events. (A train event in August, Disney in September). - I don’t know what I’ll decide. :-/

This may be effective. This person died, they didn't have to, so here's your opportunity to get vaccinated right here right now and avoid his fate.

On the other hand, if someone isn't vaccinated they shouldn't be attending a memorial service to begin with.

It's kind of strange to see these pop up clinics at things like concerts or fairs. Like, you should already be vaccinated if you're here.
