Right now, the UK is at the 3rd inflection point with a leveling out of cases at about 25k/day. The next week will be telling, in that, do cases increase at the 3rd inflection point, as in the previous surge, or fall.

We were discussing in another Covid thread over in chit chat about the Wisconsin State Fair offering a free world-famous state fair cream puff for any person getting vaccinated on site. And there were several of the vaccination locations on the grounds. I think in a six hour period I might have seen two people getting their vax.

Sorry, quick edit. There are also such sites at the Brewers games and the Bucks playoffs and finals.

I've already seen first hand when some products are not being restocked on the shelves and restaurants say that some items on the menu they can't prepare due to out of stock items. Covid positivity rates are due to unvaccinated testing positive overcrowding our hospital system in my opinion.

Some events were doing fully vaccinated or a negative test. For those events maybe a good idea to allow access with a negative test only if you agree to get vaccinated on the spot. All I am saying is use the available venues to break up this vaccination log jam. More opportunities not more obstacle courses and rules.

In my opinion I see that the Northeast who are more educated, higher incomes etc can rally around and mask up more effectively than the Deep South who lead the country in categories no state wants to lead in.

School started here today in Central Florida for many and begins tomorrow for our kids. They are vaccinated and will take precautions, including wearing masks, but as parents we are, quite frankly, terrified.

Pics today of kids in middle school crowded around each other, maskless, face to face while eating lunch don’t help ease our concerns.

Our school board met yesterday and decided in an untelevised meeting not to impose any restrictions whatsoever, not even an opt-out option which has at least been implemented elsewhere in the state in spite of leadership fighting against it. Our kids, like many others, are in specialized programs so virtual is not an option.

We’re hoping against hope that the virus does not rip through our schools and make matters worse. But this is a truly scary time for parents and seeing the mess we’re in right now, well, we’re disheartened that so many pretend nothing is going on. All we can do is wait and hope. Sorry to ramble but with folks considering coming here for vacations, understandably worried about spending a week at theme parks, this is what those of us who live here are facing every day.😔

I think you highly over estimate what people will do. People won't want a shot that can get in the way of fun. That is if they are willing in the first place. I've actually seen clinics set up at fun places. They realize the small numbers doing it isn't worth the time.

I actually do understand and as I said above I've seen fun places offer vaccines only to not repeat it. Maybe I know too many covid anti-vaxxers to be this naïve about what can actually work. The positives are there, putting a supposed happy association on it won't help. They'll just complain about how they don't want to see things pushed on them while having fun. The ones who whine about covid tests to travel won't give up an arm at a concert I guarantee it

Personally I'd rather shift focus to groups who want, but will struggle to get the shot due to work or childcare or whatever. I really think outside of mandates hard core covid hoaxers will be impossible to get.

The virus does not care about education, income or any other category it just infects and its heading North, like up I95. Which will translate to a migration of people heading South to avoid the advancing wave and vacay at WDW.

The virus does care! If you are vaccinated and taking reasonable precautions like an educated person would do, the virus will have a much harder time reaching you.

If you live in a state like Vermont, with many fellow smart people, the virus will have a harder time spreading at all.

Interesting anecdotal story. A friend (in Vancouver, BC) was talking to a visiting tourist from Florida.

The tourist commented to her how nice it is in Vancouver and that she (my friend) can visit Florida once Canada gets it's numbers down and the USA re-opens the border.

The cognitive dissonance as to what is happening is insane. The COVID numbers in Florida vs British Columbia are not even close.

British Columbia has a better run government run health system as compared to Ontario which health care system falters , and BC numbers are better than Ontario, but nothing comes close to Florida.

Wow, I thought Canadians were smart. Test or not it seems like the wrong time to drop restrictions on cross border travel
