Season 19, Act Eleven: Rick and Morty's Universal Adventure

This is the IP I've been wanting to work with all season, and since we have an extra round to work with and @JokerWild doesn't seem to be getting back to me about his pet project, were going to go ahead and do it! If you haven't seen Rick and Morty before, it's a pretty easy show to research. The general set-up here is simple: Universal is loosing the theme park rights to The Simpsons at the end of the decade.

To keep up with the trend of adult animated IPs with distinct settings and unique food/drink opportunities, Universal Creative has hired the remaining members of Team Danny DeVito From Dumbo to give the area a Rick and Morty overlay. Since more people are familiar with the Florida park, let's start there for now. Be sure to make the attraction itself a focal point. I'd encourage you to do a simulator to keep with the Back to the Future/Simpsons tradition, but I don't want you boxed in so if you think you could make a cool dark ride, coaster or whatever out of that area go for it. Other than that all the Springfield shopping and dining must be completely rethemed to Rick and Morty, along with the Kang and Kodos flat ride.
The Walt's Vault event this round is called Leaders and Followers. It goes a bit like this. If the person who opens the Vault has previously been a Project Leader post-merge, they gain the ability to do it again and also block someone who hasn't done it from doing it for the rest of the season. If the person who opens the Vault has never been Project Leader post merge then it is they that loose the power and must choose one of @Mickeynerd17, @ThemeParkPriest, or @DisneyFan18 to be allowed to become Project Leader again. @Tegan pilots a chicken has gotten the key to to the Vault...but for the first time this season has decided NOT to open it! This means Project Leader positions will stay in tact and only the three previously mentioned are banned from doing it again.

One last thing...were in the end-game now. We have ONE more pre-semi finals round left after this, and then things get really crazy. Because of how close we are to the end, this round will be the LAST to use either the Nomination Swapper or the Golden PoMVP. Use it wisely. Good luck, Team Danny DeVito From Dumbo. This project is due Sunday, August 1st at 11:59PM Eastern/8:59PM Pacific. I'll be trying to get written feedback up to you guys still, but at the VERY least @JokersWild and I will be doing a proper podcast feedback show on the Scary Farm project plus this week's two lightning rounds some time next week.

I have to admit that I’ve only seen one episode of Rick & Morty. The first one of the new season because it was written by Jeff Loveness and wanted to get a taste of his writing before Quantumania. I’ll push for Mr. Nimbus in the attraction hahaha
But he's MISTER NIMBUS, @DisneyFan18...He CONTROLS the POLICE!!!! :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: 😆 😆

Guess my other quick late night thought would be that the ride could utilize the show’s multiverse/portal traveling mechanic to visit many different timelines and locations. We could highlight some direct from specific episodes and also create some new scenarios ourselves just for the ride.
Love this! Quick thought: Would it be possible to add some scene randomization like on Star Tours?

HECK YES!!!!

Ok, some thoughts:

Since we're redoing the Simpsons area, we've got a 3D simulator ride and some extra food/merch locations around for this area.

My thoughts on the ride are either reskin the ride just how Simpsons was a reskin of BTTF and have a zany adventure with the garage spaceship going through the galaxy and somehow involving/ending with the Council of Ricks...

...OR, we demolish the ride and build something new. It could be a dark ride or rollercoaster or something else!

Guess who’s never seen Rick and Morty!!!

I haven’t been living under a rock; I know the general gist of the show and can help whenever needed. But for brainstorming I have no strong opinions one way or the other. Ideally I think a balance should be drawn between easter eggs for fans and an introduction to the show for guests unfamiliar with the IP!

It’s always someone’s first time watching right?!

Looks like HBOMax and I are going to see each other a lot in these next few hours 😅

Well, I haven’t seen it either, and I might as well be living under a rock! I’m having some work done to my house today so I’ll be staying with some people from my church. I don’t think I’ll be able to do the HBO Max route, but maybe I can watch some clips on YouTube!

I really like the Simpsons style simulator; there was some good Imagineering that went into BttF, so I would be fine with keeping the ride system the same. One of the best parts of the Simpsons ride (at least in Hollywood) is the queue (the map of Krustyland, clips playing in the background, and the pre-show room). So we will want to make ours equally fun!

I do too! Plus with Rick and Morty being such a wacky IP, we have so many chances to elevate the queue and pre-show to a brand new level.

What if for the land surrounding the ride we went with a meta route and had it be themed to an alternate universe version of Universal Studios? Obviously there'd be theme park observational jokes everywhere.
I was thinking something similar! Like maybe even having entrance “portals” the guests walk through when accessing the area

I also LOVE that idea!
