I really am done looking at total cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. Unlike a year ago there are now two types of humans in the world, the vaccinated and unvaccinated. I know what’s about to happen to unvaccinated individuals, and it’s going to be terrible, but I’m not in that group.

I particularly care about my group, the vaccinated, and while it’s harder to find stats on us, our numbers are incredibly low. Were going to be fine as a group, there will be breakthroughs but they’ll be rare, unless something changes. I also care about kids, since they can’t be vaxxed yet. Multiple Public Health officials continue to broadcast that vaccinated people shouldn’t be overly concerned, and that young children continue to have a low rate of severe disease. So I’m not worried, just sad that many people who gambled with their life are about to roll snake eyes.

Okay, so let's look at this as a vaccinated vs. non-vaccinated thing. Are you ready to have to deal with shortages and supply line issues again? Because the way the numbers are climbing, it really looks like they're going to happen. I couldn't get the chicken my husband likes for his lunches yesterday because it was not included in their shipment last week...they're "hoping" they get more tomorrow, but there are products they haven't been able to get for more than a month from that supplier...just like the last time there were rises in cases all over the country.

I get it...you're angry. I am, too. There are people purposely sabotaging us and we ALL suffer the consequences of their ignorance.

There's a reason it's irrelevant though - there is no difference in the safety data required for full approval. It's not a longer amount of time, it's not more data...it's literally the same, exact safety data used for both EUA and full approval.

"It's not been fully approved" is a very, VERY common line used by anti-vaxxers because they're choosing to ignore the fact that the data used for both forms of use approval are exactly the same.

I’ll deal with the temporary issues, don’t forget I’m going to be working harder too. I will continue to try to convince anyone who asks my opinion on vaccines to get their shots but I don’t see any political will to do anything more drastic, and absent of a mandatory vaccine or signs of vaccine escape or bad disease in children I will not be in favor of curtailing my freedoms again. That’s the only difference between us. I’m not whistling past the graveyard, I’m just walking past the graveyard unstealthly knowing I’m protected from the ghosts for the most part and I have to walk past it.

Moderna and Pfizer will be, potentially as soon as next month, the data is in and it’s just making its way through the bureaucracy of the FDA and being studied. So at this point it is irrelevant.

Why not include the hospitalization graph? Is it not pessimistic enough? The last time the 7 day rolling average of cases in FL was over 11k (1/21), there were 7,739 people hospitalized with COVID on a seven day rolling average. The latest available day. For 7/17, there was a seven day rolling average of 4,010.

It clearly shows that the demographic which is unvaccinated and getting infected is also the demographic that is less severely effected.

I think this spike is a good thing in a way. First, maybe it will finally push people to get vaccinated. Second, if it doesn't, the unvaccinated are getting "vaccinated" at a pretty rapid pace.

I'll go with "catastrophe and depression crowd" in the future.

The fact that you ask this question at all means you have some reading to do.

The fact that you think I'm not fine means you have some reading to do. Go analyze the statistics for vaccinated people and then go look at statistics for your age on normal risk factors. If you are fully vaccinated, you are "fine" with respect to COVID as much as you were fine with anything on any given day before COVID-19 existed.

Is anyone surprised cases are rising? The world is opening up and the vaccine does not prevent folks from getting COVID, it should allow you to recover more quickly.

And yes, a very small percentage of folks who are vaccinated do get COVID and die from covid. Its my feeling folks will die from COVID vaccinated or not and a huge majority of folks who get COVID will recover.

Long haul problems for those who get COVID and recover? Who knows?

I suspect I will have long haul problems from eating cheeseburgers and milkshakes..

Long before folks ever heard of COVID, my family never left the house without hand sanitizers and wipes and we go through the ritual of wiping down all the surfaces and use sanitizer in restaurants for example.

Everyone should be careful and continue to germaphobic, it can only help.

We are less than a month from "15 days to slow the spread" turning into "15 months to slow the spread." I guess somebody made a typo on those graphics they made up.

What some people refuse to accept is that, especially from a worldwide perspective, it is unlikely that COVID-19 ever gets eradicated.

C'mon...you should know me better than that by now...I'm not hiding anything, I just knew the screenshots I was posting already took up a ton of room on their own, or I wouldn't have posted the link to the data. If you'd seen last weeks graphs, you'd know that the hospitalizations and deaths increases for this week look similar to what the new cases increases looked like last week (but we all know those both lag cases).

I'm praying the rises across the board push those who are anti-vaxx for ridiculous reasons into getting their jabs...I really am.

I was at an event of about 80 people in CT this weekend and someone speaking before the group described it as great that we could all be together post-Covid. There was another reference to the pandemic being over.
I was just an audience member, but yipes! Granted, they are doing well compared to other states and they seem to have done a decent job with vaccination compare to the obvious.

Speaking of that, as of Friday's most recent breakthrough infections data, out of over 159 million fully vaccinated people, 791 have died due to COVID-19 and 3,733 have been hospitalized. That's 0.0005% of fully vaccinated people who have died over the past several months and 0.0023% who have been hospitalized.

That's 0.0005% of fully vaccinated people who have died over the past several months and 0.0023% who have been hospitalized.

Those are good numbers. But it’s not like 100% of vaccinated people got equal exposure. As the Delta virus spreads those numbers could go up. That’s not being doom and gloom, I agree those numbers are good .0005% (trusting your math cause I’m too lazy!) is a very low number!

No because it’s not God’s Will it’s humanity’s will. If we vaccinated the entire world it would be wiped out but that’s not going to happen, so the best I can do is get vaccinated myself.

Delta doesn't like younger people, it likes unvaccinated people and a higher percentage of younger people are not vaccinated. There is no evidence that Delta is any worse than prior variants for children under 12 with respect to serious illness.
