Speculation on annual passes?

Translation: don’t give things titles to try and distract from the value/cost of what’s being sold.

the “gold” pass is a prime example of that. It was a more expensive product for less value when introduced.
Thank you SirWalter. I see your point. It’s a major marketing ploy to make people feel as if they’re getting something more than what they’re actually getting. It occurs in many many things.

Hey all! As I currently understand it, annual passes are available to be renewed on a case by case basis, but new annual passes are not available for purchase yet. We're planning on moving to the Orlando are around July. I know there's been no official news, but is there any speculation on the return of annual passes that can be purchased new? Is there any concern at all of them not returning at all?

Thanks all! For all that live in Florida we look forward to being your new neighbors!

This is just speculation on my part.

WDW will begin selling new APs again eventually BUT I think all APs will require park pass reservations and will have blackouts.

I will not be surprised if the new AP costs more than the previous platinum “go any time no blackouts” ticket.

Disney’s tried and true business plan, provide less, charge more.

Here’s the bottomline for me:

1. food and bev prices are gonna suck in the short term
2. Ticket prices are gonna suck in the short and long term

but I’m just a lowly consumer...I’m not a ceo/board member like queen, stamps, and the hundreds of others begging to be charged.

pay me no mind 😎
Forgive me...but please, every regular forum knows this is generally how you feel about WDW right now, but it gets tiresome to read this sentiment in just about every WDW thread, especially when it doesn't even answer the question being asked. For a reminder, the OP asked:
1. Is there any speculation on the return of annual passes that can be purchased new?
2. Is there any concern at all of them not returning at all?

I'm also a little worried about you personally. So much negativity, day in and day out, but WDW forums are supposed to be fun. To me, it sounds like you no longer enjoy WDW and/or talking about WDW. If so, then perhaps it is time to take a break, and maybe try something that is fun.

If I'm wrong, and you do enjoy WDW, then I'd love to see posts from you that reflect your WDW enthusiasm. Because, I dunno, life is short. We should all use our free time to do things we actually enjoy.

You’re pretty much wrong on all that. That was also 2 weeks ago and in an exchange.
Let it breathe...because it did.

whatever institution you received you doctorate in psychology from...I question their credentials.

what the hell does my “enthusiasm” have to do with my enjoyment? Are all people the same in priorities and experience? No?
ok...then it’s no more appropriate for you to say that patronizing “fake parent” nonsense than it is for me to talk about adults who live in some fantasy world talking about magic and talking about “experiencing” an old ride or magic kingdom at 7:01 pm as opposed to 6:59 pm.

...see how that looks? Kinda out of bounds and takes away from the “fun” of the board?

they’re not selling aps yet. When and how much? We’d all like to know...including me. And if they do...and I buy one...I’ll have no problem enjoying myself. When I’m there...not in some form of ether where it’s talked up in abstract without the good and the bad being considered.

Truly, haven't you and I had a number of civil exchanges before today? I'd like to think so.

I'd just like to hear more about the parts of WDW you enjoy.

I believe we’ve had many civil exchanges. I don’t say the reality about...quite a lot. Adults acting like children to fill the void being the biggest one.

what do I enjoy? All kinds of things...i just talk about what’s being talked about.

if it’s about prices...or diminishing returns...or Disneyphiles steering the narrative where the “company” wants it to go to against their own self interests...it usually doesn’t go well.

But I like the engineering...I like the architecture...I like the logistics and operation. Big fan of food (not as good...but still)...i people watch. There’s a lot of good Disney history still there.

but as with Everything...far from perfect.

Fair enough.

I wasn't trying to attack you earlier. The internet is imperfect in that it isn't easy to convey tone, and these are funky times.

I don't usually post anything personal, but COVID isolation has taken a toll on multiple folks I know (in-person). Everyone to some extent, sure, but some more than others. And well...again not to get too personal, but we could all use a more sunshine.

This is thread asking if AP's are coming back, and there are just so very many threads already discussing all the flaws of WDW. WDW isn't perfect, not at all. Just at some point though, goodness, we should be able to discuss a few aspects of WDW without veering into criticizing a place we supposedly enjoy.

It would be nice, for just a moment, to say with a tiny bit of hope, I hope AP's are coming back!

I see there’s a message up about AP holders having difficulty booking a park pass, just like they did at WDW at reopening.

However they’re taking a gamble since those most likely to be visiting are AP holders at the moment.
It’s a bit of a curious move...but I think they are still hesitant to go “full open” there...and that could be why they’re suspending annuals.

not the case in Florida...still developing story

I went to Disney in 72, 74, 77, then again the year EPCOT Opened, then the following year and 40 times since, 16 times 2016 to 2020. 1 time 2021. We live IL.

People have their opinions mine, Disney is better, more fun, my kids like it better now from when they were little(I have 6 kids ages 19 year old twins to 36 a year old with his own kid), they all have been to Disney.

Some can say all they want about cost or value or lack of, whatever, for me, Disney is more magical, has better things, is better for families of all ages, has more to do and when I cross that imaginary line within the Disney 42 sq miles I instantly am happier.

I still have an AP, but many of my family members and my wife lost theirs. We want them back and we want them back ASAP.

For us there isn't anything Disney can do to change that fact, though not bringing back FP+, that to me worked perfectly fine as it was, will be one of my only complaints in the last 50 years if the new version isn't as good as the old.

I am more concerned with how FP comes back than AP(I know that AP will come back in WDW). I am hoping August 16th is the date for AP and OCT 1 for FP, I think it's as good a guess as any.

It’s all good.

I am very opinionated about Disney and particular wdw (comes honestly)...but I try not to skirt the line and make it personal and if I don’t agree with it...leave it alone. That’s often tough when we interpret “policy” though...which we often do.

we all can co-exist. And I change my opinions about topics and people a lot. There are some of the core posters here who I’m pretty sure thought I was the anti-Christ when I arrived (I perused some of the premium posts later on) that we get on pretty well now.

i’m a fan...I like history and to give honest advise to those that ask for it...I just know Disney is a conglomerate who tries to manipulate our emotions in ways that are easy to get carried away...and it needs to be balanced.

True.

But it’s the government’s regulations, not Disney, that are determining how they re-open. Won’t be much, if any, different to the last time they were open.

You’re entire response is confusing. Hence the Huh.

I think you're probably right. I had some syntax issues with one of those sentences. I should have proof read. I edited the post and cleaned it up some.

Basically, my argument is that the product sells itself, and your challenge at a park is moving people throughout the park, getting as much money as you can from them, and hoping that they don't ask for a refund at guest services.

If you tell people "Gold Pass" they're going to assume that they're VIPs and that they deserve special treatment over other guests. If in reality its a very low level, call it something to make that obvious so that people know that they're in the park on a discount, and not to expect as much.

They had more problems with surges on the continent...I’m sure caution is more a priority than here in Los estados unidos
