The State University System in florida will meet next week to begin outlining the process should furloughs be needed.

I want things to go back to as close to the old normal as soon as possible, but the decision to lift all restrictions is a huge gamble. WHEN it fails, that man will never hold public office again.

FIFY. Like I said before, it blows my mind that so many think getting rid of restrictions will make things better.

I deleted half my post because I thought it got into P-word territory. That was what I left.

However, Depression-era economic and p-word policies have been battling it out in the theoretical ever since. Now things have turned very empirical. COVID is a proxy for so many things. Chickens, roosts and all that. So given that Florida’s options are limited (although some are self-imposed, but there are National limitations too.)

I get that. People keep saying we have to learn to live with Covid but are against any restrictions. I look at how things have gone here where I live. Restaurants and bars have done well with limited capacity and the mask mandate. Outside of theme parks, everything is back to open here and the majority has learn to live with wearing masks and physical distancing. Then you Floriduh, where they think it's the restrictions on why people aren't coming to visit.

The problem is a lot of Florida's economy is based on tourism and high covid numbers will scare a lot of people away.

And the thing about scared tourists is that often they remain scared well after the issue has been resolved.

No. I was born in 1969. Florida is known for no income tax. Sales tax is 7.5%. I don’t know what is “superficial” or not. I live here. You don’t. I simply state what is. Whatever you’re trying to argue it’s a red herring because it’s non-sensical.

Nothing about the Governor’s EO is a mandate. Actually for selfish reasons I don’t want them to change their capacity limitations. I’m going in mid-October and want fewer crowds. I freely admit this wish has nothing to do with COVID but want easier touring in the parks.

I think another issue with the direction Florida has gone is any business that still wants to maintain strict protocols are going to get even more pushback and conflict from people who see this as the green light to do whatever they want.

I feel for all the front line workers having to deal with those types.

If they increase ride capacity it shouldn’t be an Issue.
