Update regarding pay:

the union proposed that the agreement to pay be extended through August and the company said they wouldn’t discuss anything past March 31

People will be let go as this extends. Not all at once, though.

Me too. I also use only 1 finger since I figure the virus is flying off of less fingers. Interestingly, different fingers get very different reactions.

Regardless of what was said and clarified during the press conference, I think it's sensible to assume that things will not be reopening or going back to normal in April. There is no good reason to think otherwise.

Another update: when WDW reopens later this Spring, expect some changes as we all adjust to the “new normal”. Sure, Purell everywhere, but moreso:

1) if you have an ADR, it may be taken away from you. Until there is a COVID-19 vaccination, restaurant capacities will be significantly reduced to provide 6 ft. between tables. Anyone who has ever dined at a WDW restaurant will understand how significant of a reduction we are looking at.

So...San Angel Inn is going to be closed for the next year.

HKDL is reopening pretty much one hotel restaurant at a time.

It will take time for something like WDW to get back into full swing.

Almost everyone i know that was wait staff has been fired this week.

The reality is we do not know how many ventilators even exist in the US. If you go back to a previous news article when a reporter asked how many we had in the US the government official refused to answer on the grounds that it was a national security issue and would not be disclosed. So frankly we don't know if we have enough for any model, and anyone stating that we don't have enough for the worst case scenario model is flat out lying because they can't possibly know if we do or don't given the government refuses to release the information.

If you think a back we had chicken littles tell us the hospitals would be over burdened and collapse in 10 days and that was two weeks ago... now I've seeing someone say the Hospitals are 8 days from collapse... This is the type of malarkey that causes people to stop listening to anything the media or government says. If you don't have the ability to say what is going to happen in the future then have the guts to admit you don't know instead of just making up worst case scenario answer.

As for models, they are really pointless. I've run enough model in my life to know that for any model to be accurate you need good data to base it on. We don't have good data to base any model on in this country. We don't really have a clue how many people are really already infected nor have a clue as to what the real rate of being asymptomatic or of suffering serious life threatening consequences are which means everything in those models is a guess. You might get away with one guess in a model and have a guess that is close enough to right that it doesn't matter but the more things you have to guess about the further your model will be from reality. I will be shocked if the mortality rate of this virus ends up being more than half a percent, which would still be equivalent to the Hong Kong Flu of the late 60's which while bad didn't result in nearly as much pandemonium as you are seeing today.

Bottom line is neither you nor I have the first clue about any of this. Every single thing you just said in your post is an absolute guess.

Masks are mostly to prevent people from touching their face causing not washing your hands and touching your face is one factor. Look at the other side of the world, specifically in Asia where you see almost 90% of them wearing different masks of some sort in public. I mean it's not really that effective but it lessens it.

You don't need a mask for that -- use a bandana or a balaclava.

Along with every other big corporation that operates in the USA.

I got news for you...every company wants favorable legislation.

What does that have to do with the airlines being the ones to decide who should be allowed to fly or not?

Note the post I replied to was not that they didn’t collaborate but the postulate that the airlines should have done it on their own w/o the gov.
