So glad the alcoholic seagull gets so much airtime. That's what kids who love LMM want to see!

Is the ceiling of the lengthy and empty queue still leaking everywhere? That fact that that queue is usually empty and the ride is often a walk-on says all that needs to be said about that ride's popularity.

Its high quality facade/frontage and queue sets the guest up for a certain expectation. And then we ride. And then the disappointment sets in.

They definitely missed some opportunities but nothing that can't be updated eventually.

With Disneys track record we will see this happen, ohhhh,2045 or so. Personally I will be waiting for a suitcase of cash to fall into my backyard before Disney decides to fix mermaid.

When you see the kind of quality going into the BATB ride, those animatronics!!!! It really shows how unimpressive this ride is. I feel like it could have easily had at least one really amazing scene. Like the Ursula one in the original ride concept video.

I am a fan of the ride and will always ride it when I’m in MK as it often has little to no wait. I’d say the only “bad” scene is the Under the Sea section as it’s full of cheap lazy animatronics. The other scenes however like the Ursula or Part of Your World get you up close with some nice AA’s and it’s refreshing to see them when so many things are screen based. I would rank it higher than Peter Pan or Winnie the Pooh for me.

Mermaid show at Hollywood studios is exceptional! To be fair, as much as I love mermaid it did not need a ride. And while I appreciate the ride, it's a horrible representation of mermaid. The que is ridiculous so much wasted space and the ride itself filled with questionable design.

I reminded of Disney imagineers who in videos would say, and when you turn around there is ursala the star of the show. She looks better in the Hollywood studios show. And the same about the Navi on river journey and let's not start on everest. It's all just pathetic.

bad blacklit puppetry, a song where Ariel sits on the rock for all of it, one cool performance by a giant Ursula and then a montage of the rest of the film. It’s so lazy.

The thing that bothers me the most about this attraction is what bothers me about the company's handling of Ariel. She's an explorer! A risk taker! Passionate! She wants to be with humans before she ever meets Eric. But hey, she's a teenage girl, whatevs, hormones intervene. The strongest title character Disney had up until that point (and still ranks among the top). And yet, she's reduced to this cutesy-pootsy airhead.

This attraction is so disappointing because she is presented as a vapid doll with no control over her own story. Ursula and the Under the Sea scene bring forth the magic of the movie - but even the latter feels as unkinetic as Galaxy's Edge.

Is it possible to overthink a cartoon story line? Asking for a friend.

For me, the issues are in the storytelling. The last 1/3rd of the rides story is a disjointed mess. I don't really mind the primitive AAs used throughout. But I do think they could have put more effort into the ride and not just the facade. The Imagineers have a whole bag of tricks they can use, biut they seem to have taken the path of least resistance. The 2nd summer it was open, I was shocked when at around 10am we walked through the queue and rode the ride and saw one other person. It was kind of creepy being that empty.

This is a fairly short ride considering the amount of material the creators tried to cover and multiple songs, obviously, disjoint the experience.

Um an omnimover automatically doesn’t make for bad storytelling. Look at Haunted Mansion, one of the most adored rides out there. Or even Forbidden Journey which has you barely see other ride vehicles. Wow!

Also tons of rides feature multiple songs. Even if they have the same song, it will usually at least have a variation in it like It’s A Small World.

1) Mansion's strength is not the conveyance...it's the other multiple attributes

Mansion’s biggest strength is the immersion and tone. Which is a a large part of storytelling. You can have a good story with an omnimover system. Thinking you can’t is absurd. Out of all the complaints people have for Mermaid, an omnimover system is not one of them.

Forbidden Journey opened in 2010 and is widely regarded as one of the most innovative rides around. It’s an omnimover style system. You can do great things with it if the ride is good enough to support it. Making it trackless suddenly won’t make the ride good.
