Curious what brand of hot dogs people eat. I have suffered with indigestion since I was in my twenties I found that Hebrew Nation hot dogs don't bother my stomach like most other brands. Might be they have less fat or better quality meat
My dh goes to the farm up the road and usually gets their bison because it's lower in fat and not too heavily spiced, family cookouts he gets their beef

Last night, we received a Christmas gift of different cheeses from a family member. Hubs and I wasted no time tearing open the packing materials, and dove right in! (And, we couldn't be bothered with taking the cracker box out of the cabinet.) We just wolfed down about 4 different kinds of cheese, straight out of the wrappers! :p :hungry:

Edit: I meant to include that we didn't eat multiple POUNDS of cheese -- we did heartily sample 4 types, though. ;)

This makes my Wisconsin cheese-heart swell with pride!

@ajrwdwgirl , has your hubbie written his Christmas sermon yet? I figure your church is about the same as mine -- tons of people that you've never seen before, magically "appear" at Christmas services. So I was just thinking that he probably has to tweak his sermon to connect with a broader audience. Usually, Christmas sermons are always upbeat, anyway.

He write his Christmas sermon around Thanksgiving. He likes to be ahead in his sermon prep. He does say that he feels a lot of pressure to give a good sermon on Christmas and Easter when some of the infrequent members show up. Even though it is written he’ll probably tweek it a little in the next couple days. But it will be good, he is very talented with his sermons. And I’m not just saying that because he is my husband. He never reads his sermons (doesn’t even hold his sermon on paper anymore) or is stilted behind the pulpit, he actually never stands behind the pulpit. His sermons are about 7 minutes in length so they keep peoples attention and often uses humor to get the message across. I hate long sermons that get repetitive, when a preacher keeps droning on and on I get bored and tune out.

But anyway, both services should be crowded. That’s why I have hubs reserve my spot too!🙂

Not even dickie Dee's or Jimmy Buff's?:cautious:

Too funny! A friend of mine's dad owned Jimmy Buff's on 22. We would often go there around closing to meet up with him, and in 5 minutes we'd walk out smelling like grease. I liked the potatoes!

If I had to eat a hot dog, it would have to be an Italian hot dog because all the extra bread, potatoes, onions, peppers drowned out the taste of the dog itself.

The better place was Dee's (also just off Rt 22, but much closer to our house) which dwarfed the footlong dogs even more. (Wait, is that the "dicky dees" you're talking about?)

Italian is the only way to go!

@Tony the Tigger what are you going to do with a whole day off? I need to plan for mine sometime in 2036:rolleyes:

Brian got a nutty last minute idea to host, even if just for his Dad and a few people. His stepmom suggested breakfast would be better. OK. So the bottom line is, I have no idea. Two weeks ago they were supposedly getting divorced (in their 70's.)

Honestly, the breakfast thing sounds good, and then just relax the whole day.

Another couple (also on the verge of divorce, one moved out and they aren't wearing rings but supposedly it's "going well") invited themselves over (from Atlanta) for a few days including NYE. (They saw the price of hotels LOL.) Then one (the one who is "our" friend) actually asked me if I wouldn't "read" the one who moved out. In my house.

I said I have no intention of starting anything, but I'm not making any such promises.

I wonder if it's the same people, they closed the other one a long time ago.

I am waiting for the call to head to Newark, not really sure when - maybe weeks? Grandma is...fading. And she still lives in the Ironbound aka "Down Neck." She's been more or less "out of it" for some time now, and I said a version of my goodbyes when I visited in July.

The single most important person over my lifetime. Lucky to have her well into my 40's. By the time my cousins, siblings and I were adults, she made no secret I was her favorite LOL.
