As long as Rat is a trackless ride like in Paris it should be a homerun. But if they skimp like they did with WDW Pooh vs Pooh's Honey Hunt there might be problems.

One must also consider the rest of what a ride brings; in this case, extreme expansion of the France pavilion. New crêperie shop, bathrooms, extended streets. So far, it looks great. Let's see how it pans out.

Exactly, all they had to do was use the FOP/Soarin Engine and giant dome and add a cockpit and a galactic space battle.

That would of made for a much ,better ride but sadly they did not do that.

That's not low for a ride with no FP.

In other words, it’s lower than a popular E-ticket with FP! Don’t misunderstand me: as long as FP exists, I’m using it! But I wish it would go away at all times except peak season, and Disney would simply operate rides at optimal capacity—the way Disney used to be. Nothing’s worse than using a FP for Big Thunder, only to get down there and realize they’re using a single loading dock despite being a moderately busy day. (Okay, maybe it’s worse to use FP for Imagination.)

On a tangent: the second Imagineering episode talked about how Epcot’s original slate of attractions were designed to keep moving and minimize long queues. Although I realize Epcot opened with too many slow-moving omnimovers, I appreciate that WDI was trying to minimize wait times by offering attractions that constantly loaded and ranged from about 15–45 minutes in length!

I beg to differ. RotR looks awesome. So does Rat. And GotG. And Tron. Jury's still out on MMRT (but it's filling the shoes of TGMR).

I think what is comming would be great,much better then MFSR.

Yep, with wait times similar to pre-fastpass Tower of Terror, Pirates, Space Mountain, and the like. All stinky.

As a kid, I remember all of the E-tickets averaging 45-min waits during peak season (Presidents Week).

Remember, people who don’t like something (for whatever reason they concoct), will repeat this over and over and over in hopes that by mere repetition, others will believe them, thereby making themselves feel validated (in some bizarre psychological way).

I don’t want to spiral off topic, but this has come up many times re: the popularity of Smuggler’s Run at WDW. The Studios and Epcot have very specific guest flow patterns that used to be even more pronounced before the FP+ system. About 10 years ago, you could walk into the Studios at 3:30 on a summer weekday, go around the parade, and walk onto Tower of Terror. Crowds had already worked their way to the shows on the other side of the park.

At DHS, the perceived disinterest in the Falcon is due more to guest flow and no FP than poor word of mouth. The park doesn’t rely on locals like DL, and doesn’t have the slate of E-tickets to compete with its own popularity. Would you rather ride Space Mt, Indiana Jones, Pirates, or Smuggler’s Run?

Finally, you have to smile at how Disney operates new attractions without FP+ as long as possible to keep the lines moving. Yet diehard fans still insist the system works perfectly...forgetting that during the days of paper FP, Disney shut off the machines whenever attendance was below certain levels. FP+ is a shell game designed to limit new construction by spreading your time thin on existing attractions. Nothing more, nothing less.

I also don’t fully know how that would replicate flying in a ship or improve the ride that greatly... it would basically be the same thing.

That's a poor rationalization

FOP is still the number one ride in WDW (until Rise).
I don't see that being diminished by having an FOP falcon version compared to stinky Falcon.

I think Body Wars suffered by being percieved to be just another Star Tours.

Plus - once you're in the Falcon cockpit, what difference would it make if the dome screen was FoP sized?

Few who have ridden are talking.

But, yes. We need to see if the BLOGGERS like it before we can make an informed decision, however.

I imagine "I like it" is a lower bar than Disney is hoping for. But someone approved the green milk recipe, so you never know...maybe a cold was going around that week.

Unlike Buzz or TSMM where the score is front and center and you can see an obvious connection between what you do and your score, MFSR doesn’t have an “arcade” appeal for the vast amount of riders. After a couple of times running an errand in the dark to get some cans, I was over it. FOP, like all classic attractions, is endlessly entertaining.

MFSR, like Batuu, suffers from once you get your photos in front of the Falcon, at the chess table, and in the cockpit, there isn’t a great desire to return.

Again, this is your opinion, not the general guest opinion. Just because you hate the land and Falcon attraction, doesn't mean most guests do. You're in the minority:

Again, they had hoped for better, in terms of response, but it is still being well received. They have admitted that they messed up the opening. We will see what rise does to change that.

As the 2nd ride in a well themed land MFSR is a very good ride. If they throw in additional locations in the next couple years it will be even better. If ROTR ends being a top 5 Disney ride, you end up with a land that matches up with the best Disney has to offer.

Right now SDD and MFSR are both 105 minute waits. Considering hourly capacity is 50% more for the Falcon, it is doing just fine. Even here at DL Falcon is 40 minutes and Space is 30 and Indy only 20 minutes. A year from now we will all be laughing at anyone that thought Galaxys Edge was a failure.

You could have had 4 domes, each with a different scenario and very little money wasted on R&D for stinky Falcon version.

That doesn't seem feasible to me. A cockpit environment for each guest would consume a ton of space. Also having the controls right in front of you and not being able to use them would dampen the experience.

Boarding area for Rise of the Resistance.

Riders will stand in front of colored coded areas and they will help show CMs who is an ADA rider and who is not!
Colors have NOT been finalized so don't take the colors as "gospel" but when the cars are in Tandem, Car #1 will be Red/Blue and car #2 will be Orange/White. ALSO, one of the color sets (not saying which) will let you know its the one that gets fired on by the AT-AT walkers! Just one of the cars gets fired on and that color combination guarantees it for you!
