It is more substantial than what is typically built now, but there are other issues with making a new attraction fit in an older building. And quite right.Compared to the warehouses they build now, the UoE building is probably built like a bunker. If anything it's probably extremely hard to work with to make the coaster fit. That's why I'm surprised they kept it.
These original Epcot buildings were purpose built for the attractions they housed versus the "we can put anything in to here" boxes that get tossed up. Not that there's anything truly wrong with that approach but when you have a building that practically sits on stage, I feel it should look better from all angles.
