The point is that while decreased attendance at DL in spite of GE might have playe a role in the earnings being lower than expected, people are putting too much weight on Star Wars and GE where there were any other factor impacting earnings.

The financial report pointed to the write-off of Dark Phoenix and other issues from the Fox acquisition as to the reasons numbers were missed. Domestic Parks were up ~$500 million from same quarter last year..

Quite a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if the materials cost $50... Probably another $15-30 or so for overhead. Just a guess.

I think if Disney wanted to “maximize” profits on lightsabers, you would be able to get them everywhere. I think the price point is about the experience in the park. It’s like the very very long lines we experienced a couple days ago in Orlando when they brought out the limited edition merchandise for the Haunted Mansion anniversary.... There are people who want to eBay these items for a profit, but I don’t think the sole pricing decision is about profit.... No I am not naive..... I think the high price is like turkey legs.... building on the experience in the park, in this case lightsabers = part of the experience in Galaxy’s Edge.... You gotta go, gotta experience it, and bring part of your experience home with you (that you can’t get anywhere else) and not everyone has one......

Would that really maximize profits though? Right now they have people crawling over each other for the opporunity to book an appointment to give them $200+. If you could just pick one up off a shelf, or put it together in the Magic Kingdom would it have the same mystique? If you keep it rare and expensive, it generates hype and stays in demand. Anyone could go online and buy a top replica lightsaber for around $120 that you could actually hit stuff with, but those dont have the association with SWL and you cant point to it and say "I've been there".

He didn’t say believed it. He did say the better bet is adding original Star Wars content, but this depends on how Rise of Resistance is successful. I still think it’s better than 0 percent chance that Disney will add back original trilogy content because the land itself is not successful.

Is he saying they might rebrand the whole area to an entirely different franchise, or just incorporate more OT stuff? I'd really like to avoid giving them views if possible.

Marketing has indeed said that can update the land to keep up with changes in the movies. I presumed they meant going forward and not going backward.

And I thought, "Hey cool." BUT... I remembered two things...

1. WDW almost never updates attractions, and when they do, certainly not in a timely manner.
2. I can't see how RotR can be updated to a new timeframe, past or present.

So... maybe 10 years from now an update? 15 years? Never?

Perhaps "not as successful as they hoped" is better? I think it's clear they're off to a bumpy start but are confident in its future success when complete.
