All,

what would everyone recommend for the last night dinner?

Where are you staying? Somewhere on site? Close to a park? Remote?
Is there a special event that night you and your kid would want to do, like the Halloween or Xmas Parties?

Thank you
What is this restaurant all about please ?
California Grill is one of the nicest restaurants in WDW, with one of the best views (in Contemporary resort overlooking MAgic Kingdom so you can see the fireworks from there) and it's also one of the most expensive. And while my kids happen to enjoy it...mainly because they know how much their mom and dad love it...I don't know if it's the sort of restaurant a 7yo would appreciate as the last meal at WDW. Although if you can book at a time when the fireworks happen, I'm sure there will be no complaints. And if you eat earlier than that, no worries, they do let you back into the restaurant to watch from the balcony if you want.

Over at Epcot, the Rose & Crown has patio seating. If you're lucky enough to snag a seat outside with later reservations, you'll have a great view of their fireworks spectacular. And like California Grill, if you dine earlier, you can go back to the patio area when it's time.

It might not still be going on when you're there, but Animal Kingdom has restaurant "packages" that include special seating at the Rivers of Light nighttime show. One of those restaurants is a character meal - Tusker House - and it's a great buffet.

HDDR. The Hoop Dee Doo Revue at Ft. Wilderness. It's a dinner show that's been running for decades, and we have seen it many times. The show is fun for all ages, and the meal is AYCTE BBQ ribs, fried chicken, salad and sides, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Also unlimited wine, beer, sangria and soft drinks. It is SO much fun - we were there on our last visit to celebrate our anniversary. Our grandson LOVED it.

I second that idea - Hoop Dee Doo is fun for all ages!

Is Rose and Crown pub food?
Also I have penciiled in Rivers of light package already :)

California Grill is great but would not be my recommendation for you and a 7 year old.

I would suggest something more along the lines of O'hana at the Polynesian Resort. Fun, interactive dining that has great views if you request a window seat.

...I know.

First, California grill is HALF The taste it used to be at double the price.

Second...it’s not really for a 7 year old. Kids are fine there but why not cater to the kid and look for good food?

I highly recommend the boathouse and homecoming. Great food, fun atmosphere and doesn’t require a ticket.

I would highly recommend O’hana at the Polynesian AND I would recommend Tusker House at Animal Kingdom.
IMO, I don’t think you’ll be let down by O’hana. Tusker House is a great character experience, as they are dressed in safari. Both really fun places with excellent food. Hope this helps.

We always like to spend our last evening at the MK and see the fireworks. As a result, dinner at 'Ohana (early enough that we have plenty of time to head back to the MK for fireworks after) is my family's "last night" tradition. It's not a character meal, but a family-style all-you-care-to-enjoy meal at the Polynesian Resort, usually with live entertainment from a ukelele-playing singer.

We also love the Hoop-Dee-Doo dinner show, but because it's tougher to get to Fort Wilderness from MK than to the Polynesian (you take a boat instead of the monorail, and the wait to take the boat to the MK after the show can get VERY long), we usually save that for a mid-week dinner instead.

OP, you also asked for character meal recommendations. There are many fun character meals at WDW (if you're into that - granted, my family's interest has waned as the kids have gotten older) but I can't recommend any of them as a "last night" dinner, mainly because they take so long that there's little time left afterwards for everyone to get their "one last ride" on favorite attractions -- plus, the food is generally not impressive. The best two we've had were the Crystal Palace (which had unexpectedly fresh and delicious food, but we had to wait 30+ minutes to be seated for our 5pm reservation, the meal took OVER TWO HOURS and we still hadn't seen all of the Pooh characters!) and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (which had an amazing cold buffet, so-so entrees, and poor desserts, but incredible Princess character interaction that was speedy and efficient in terms of rotation, but relaxed and wonderfully personal in terms of the time we spent with each individual character).

Thank you, what is O'Hana?
