They turned it the other way somehow and made it go back stage through frontier land

Looks like they just turned it around in Liberty Square and drove it back out the Splash Mountain entrance. That it was drivable like that is a good indication that the damage was indeed localized which should make for a quicker repair and return.

They actually have a tug sort of like you would see pulling baggage carts around the tarmac at the airport they can send out to tow a float back when it fails (for any reason). It's always at the ready to pull a float along in the event it has a propulsion problem for any reason. Looks like they found this one was able to make its way back under it's own power which would be preferred anyway.

I would suggest that a high-wear area failed. When Dragon is repaired? There will be improvements in this flex area, combined with FAR more frequent examinations. Betting Dragon is out for a good 6 months, pending failure analysis, and mitigation plan.... :(.

Now just me.... but a little IT, combined with a flow sensor from the Nat Gas supply? A catastrophic increase in gas flow rate COULD trigger an in-line gas shutdown. Consider everyone's gas water heater.

My wife who is in the gas business Agrees with you almost a 100%. Since propane is a low pressure gas and from the looks of all the videos High volume burn off and a huge increase of the flow rate and increased oxygen exposure ( carbon /“smoke”)it appears the dragon Popped a nut (“O” ring) or the Regulator sprung a spring.
The likely hood that a hose split is very slim. As all compliant hosing must be of a certain thickness and material and is not plastic. Easy to inspect , test and abrasion is always visible as the hose coating is multi layered.

Nothing some duct tape and a little paint won’t fix. ;)
Really, sounds like a reasonable explanation. Just surprised at the seeming lack of fire suppression on board.

The way my wife explained it If the tank is stored in the body or neck of the dragon and either the regulator or connector failed the gas would expel straight up and burn off just like it shows in the videos- As opposed to any increase in psi that would force additional gas out of the dragons mouth so in essence a very simplified suppression system keeping the flames away from the crowd and burning off in the air above the dragon . Because propane is a low-pressure gas there would be no danger of an explosion it would just burn off. She’s even confusing me but she knows her stuff.:)

I hope the effect comes back. I hope the float comes back. But I'm not too confident in Disney replacing it.

But the real Question is will they continue the parade and Will the dragon Float be back.....


It’s really sad DisneyWorld only Has one Parade
with 4 parks and this happens ......... Atleast they still have that Street Party.......(yikes)

Many of the paths within theme parks are designed to accommodate fire trucks. Building and fire prevention codes require fire truck access to buildings and so guest walkways double as that access.
